The Samsung HW-T650 soundbar was everything we could have hoped for and more. We were looking at the previous gen R650, but so glad we went with the new T650, which has DTS Virtual:X and Bluetooth 4.2. Thought about the 2.1 T550, but worth the upgrade to the 3.1 T650 for the extra center speaker for dialogue. Setup was a breeze. Connected to our RU8000 TV via the included optical cable for best quality audio. Connected to the included subwoofer via bluetooth. Bought and connected the 8500S surround speakers via bluetooth to turn the 3.1 soundbar into a full 5.1 system. Mounted the soundbar to the wall under the TV. Minimal wires for the entire setup. No muss, no fuss. Then we fired everything up. All the components work seamlessly together. Regular surround mode is decent, but switch to Virtual:X and the whole sound system comes alive, expanding the soundstage all around you, elevating surround speaker sounds above you, sharpening the dialogue and drastically deepening the base. Pro setup tips: 1) Place the subwoofer with the speaker facing near a wall or corner to amplify the base big time and create great rumble. 2) Put the surround speakers on stands slightly behind and above you, aimed at your head to maximize the Virtual:X atmospheric sound effects. 3) Make sure the soundbar itself is mounted at ear level to optimize its performance. 4) Be patient with the bluetooth connections, they'll connect with a couple tries. 5) Update the firmware of the soundbar when new versions come out. All-in-all, a great 5.1 setup with the surrounds and DTS Virtual:X.
