I love this unit.  I recently decided to put all my music on one drive.  This drive is fast.  It took me just under an hour to transfer 12700+ songs from two drives into the Samsung.  The speed is impressive even though I don't have the latest generation USB, just a 3.0.  I already had a soft cushion case for it which I bought somewhere in my travels and the hard drive fits like a glove.

I use this alongside my laptop as a backup device. Its small size makes it easy to carry with me in my bag, and the read/write speeds are blazing fast.

bought this to save all my pictures on like a digital photo album to give the kids when they get older. works great, feels like a quality product. i like that it came with two types of cables

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this in order to store my RAW photos and it has worked flawlessly. It is very fast, event without the latest USB ports, and I really like the encryption capability. I can not recommend this drive more.

Excellent little drive

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Using this portable SSD in conjunction with an onboard SSD in my laptop is like speed nirvana. I can do file backups and disc image backups in such little time that it encourages frequent use, which is wise. To facilitate my backups I use the free AOMEI backup tool downloaded online.
I believe my very fast backups are the result of two (2) SSD's working together. If you have a typical mechanical hard drive in your computer then you probably can still expect good performance but perhaps not as fast. Also, this Samsung T5 is very small and lightweight.

I have partioned out the drive so some partions work with my mac for TimeMachine and the other works as a normal drive for mac and PC for transferring files. 

AND THE SPEED!!!

I transferred 44.45GB of movies onto my computer in 1 minute and 20 seconds! And it wrote them onto the drive in 1 minute and 38 seconds.

Insanely Fast. Works with everything I have

I purchased this portable drive to use as a home for Dropbox on my late 2009 iMac, since I'm not trusting the 9 year old internal drive and am booting the machine from another SSD. I love the performance this drive provides, even on a USB 2.0 connection.

The Type-C wire is a bit annoying, as it's very thick & hard. It gets difficult to fold easily and to keep on the desk.

Surprisingly Powerful

I bought this to use as external storage for my PS4.  The speed and ease of use is incredible.  The only thing I've noticed is that since I installed it, there has been erratic behavior from the PS4 controllers.  After investigating, I have found that USB 3.0 and later connections can provide electromagnetic interference on 2.4 GHz bands and therefore may be the problem I've been having.  So if you're going to use this drive as PS4 external storage, make sure you find a good shielded cable or one that is long enough to place the drive away from the console and the contoller.  Other than that little quirk, this drive is purely amazing.
