I bought this for my mother who is hard of hearing. The sound quality needs to be very good in order for her to hear it. I checked out other reviews before buying and the only negative was that it lacked bells and whistled - just basic am/fm radio with good sound. And that's exactly what we wanted. My mother is enjoying the radio and says it's very clear and she has no trouble understanding the announcers etc.

This radio is ideal for people (particularly older people) who don't want to be dazzled--and confused--by a multitude of electronic options and settings, but rather do want something childishly simple like the radios they grew up with. This Sangean hits the nail right on the head, providing only on-off control and volume control, along with an analog tuner. Couldn't be simpler. In the bargain you get high quality, excellent sound, and a very good tuner. It's a bit pricey, but certainly decent value for what you get.

Great little radio for thos who crave simplicity

Replaced a 30+ year old Zenith table top stereo radio that finally pooped out. The Sangean WR-11 is well made, and don't be fooled by its diminutive size. I like a lot of base and this radio doesn't disappoint. I would have preferred the more expensive stereo model but wasn't willing to spend the extra bucks. All in all, a great little radio.

Packs A Punch!

I purchased this radio as I heard it had better reception and tone. It did not disappoint. Many FM stations I cannot get on my Bose I can hear clearly on the Sangean. The compact size and retro look are great in my kitchen. Highly recommend.

Excellent reception and sound. Compact size

I work in an office of a department that has no windows. I have tried multiple radios and none of them compare to the Sangean. The Sangean is able to pickup most channels and is able to stay locked on a channel without any drift.

Great little radio

Ordered this from Walmart for my grandmother who needed the tactile feel of knobs.  

What was delivered was a weather emergency clock radio.   Huh? 

Vendor told me Walmart sent the wrong product number, that they don't carry this model, to keep the wrong one,  and refunded my money. 

Bought the same radio on Amazon and she loves it.   In the end the vendor did the right thing but it delayed what was a gift and was an extra hassle/confusion for a 92 year old with poor eyesight to get two deliveries instead of one.

Radio is great, it's just not available

this radio is great at low volumes which works for me as I listen to it in my office. However once you turn it up the bass is too dominant and since there is no way to adjust the bass this is a negative. having said that we like it very much as it fit our need.

This is a small attractive radio with good sound and it does not distort when played at high volume. For my location, it picked up many AM and FM stations with its built-in aerial. An external wire is provided if the built-in aerial doesn't work well. My  not giving it 5 stars is because the high frequencies, although reproduced well, seemed a bit shrill. Although the bass is good, I believe it could be a tad lower. That could be how I hear it. Maybe others will think differently. It is not stereo. Perhaps if it were, the sound might be larger. Of course the radio will have to be larger too. The price is rather high, I think.  All in all, if you can overlook what to me are its minor faults, you will have a pleasant sounding radio.

Sangean AM/FM Table Hi-Fi Radio

The face plate does not look like the one in the picture. Also the wood was alot lighter in color. The sound from the radio is great and tunes in well. I recommend it for performance not on looks.
