We tried it once for a shorter trip with 3 bikes on the rack. It was in the city, we made it fine. 
We took a second trip out of the city. Half way through the drive the rack started falling off. Thank God the speeding cars behind us didn't crash into us. A piece broke off also. Lucky for us one of the bikes was foldable so we put it in the trunk. The other 2 went back on a now questionable rack with us being anxious to make the trip to our destination and back home
Bottom line: be cautious of how many bikes you put on and how far you'll drive. My confidence is gone.

I originally bought this for a Honda Odyssey van, it didn't work because the straps just hook on the edge of the truck, it doesn't wrap all the way around and attach to itself like I was thinking it would. It also didn't work due to the lip above the gate on the van. I ended up using it on a car instead and that works fine. I did add an additional strap for extra security.
