I decided to purchase this shelf because I really like the natural wood aesthetic. But after purchasing, a week past and it hadn't shipped yet, I got a bad feeling and attempted to cancel the order. Unfortunately, it was too late and it shipped the next day. It arrived today and  we decided to just put it together and use it rather than go through the hassle to return it. But as my husband started putting it together, after getting so far in, he noticed a manufacturer defect in the F board. The screw holes are drilled on the wrong side. In step 2, when he put the cam screws in, he noticed the pre-drilled holes that you need in Step 5 are incorrectly drilled. This threw my husband off quite a lot and he is anxious to attempt to drill it himself. Now we don't have predrilled holes, and we will soon find out if the board can handle being drilled into (which the directions very explicitly discourage).

The other thing about this bookshelf is that it is incredibly complex and difficult and timely to put together with many, many small parts and no option to use a drill and bit to put it together, you must instead use a screw driver because the directions discourage the use of a drill. While the shelf is beautiful and has no formaldehyde smell, this shelf is incredibly tedious and ours has a manufacturer defect that is causing us issue and the many, many small parts and hardware would make even the most proficient carpenter blush and ask why.
