I put it together in a few hours by myself by following the instructions! It is a very nice looking piece of furniture as well as a functional filing cabinet that locks. It is very heavy and sturdy. For the price you can't beat it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Instructions were good, all parts were included, and pieces went together well. Once assembled, it's what I needed for my files. I would buy it again. It's a nice piece of furniture that doesn't need to hide in a closet or back room.

Great Lateral File

Very nice piece of furniture. I like the fact only one drawer can be pulled out at a time. One of the plastic trim strips was damaged in shipping. I went to the Sauder Website and they had a convenient way of identifying the part. They shipped it out right away with no questions asked.

Excellent company to deal with. I was missing (or lost) two file clips. I called the Saunder company and they without any hesitation sent me my 'missing parts' and they arrived just a few days later. The cabinet itself was well designed and fit together well. It was however a longer task to put together than I had anticipated, but the instructions were clear and now I have a very nice looking and functional cabinet for my files.

Good buy

It's not real wood but it is a sturdy and heavy file cabinet, 90  lbs. The only thing missing in it's design is rollers to make it easier to move around. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the file cabinet. It has plenty of room. You do have to assemble it yourself, which took me a couple of hours from start to finish. The directions were easy enough to understand. The only minor problem that I had was with the first drawer, I had a small misunderstanding when I put the side of the drawers onto the drawer front. It was a little tricky, just make sure to lock the sides into the grooves of the front correctly. The second drawer was much easier because I understood how to do it from my experience with the first one. It just takes some time to assemble. It is a nice cabinet at a decent price.

Nice cabinet at a decent price

Not furniture, but a great product. Well designed and exceptional packaging, VERY heavy. Quality manufacturing and all parts fit. Directions are good but, go slow and watch the on-line videos to avoid mistakes. 3 hours to assemble.

Pros: beautiful piece, gorgeous in the space, bigger than expected-

Cons: one piece of hardware was damaged during manufacturing so I had to order a replacement, this thing was a beast to assemble DO NOT attempt this if you have little to no experience assembling furniture (I am semi pro and it took me almost 7 hours because the track lining hardware is tricky and the pieces are heavy), top banner piece is more flimsy than it should be for the piece. 

Overall: Satisfied and would purchase again.

Pros and Cons from Actual Human

I like the sleekness of this file cabinet and the look is pretty nice, seems very sturdy. One thing that I would like to change is the way the file rails are secured when not using the unit as a lateral file, they fall off easily before files are in place.

For the price this is nice

Looks nice. Assembled fairly easily. Drawers operate smoothly. Nice to have the option of letter and legal size files...even in the same drawer. The fact that it was made in the USA is what clinched the deal. NOT buying anymore foreign made items.

MADE IN THE USA

My husband and I spent two afternoons trying to assemble this filing chest without success. The twist lock attachments were faulty and could not line up with the  holes which were also a bit off. We were  concerned that if we did manage to get it together, it would not be sturdy with daily use. In contacting the Sauder Company customer service, it was decided  to send out more twist lock attachments which may take time to arrive. We keep hopeful as from the outside, it's an attractive piece of furniture.
