It tips a bit, but it is nice and sturdy.

It was good quality for the money

The product is nice looking. It was missing the instruction manual and a couple of pertinent pieces in order to put it together. A phone call to Sauder was all it took. They were great. The manual was emailed the next day. We had the missing parts within two days. Very easy company to deal with. No hassels.

Nice looking cabinetful the price.

This lateral file is very difficult to put together. It took me and an engineer neighbor 8 total hours. Only a few of the parts are labeled. Why not all the parts? And the instructions were very difficult to follow. Also, some of the boards were bent or damaged, but not enough to send it back. My neighbor thought the design was solid, though we will have to see what happens once I put files in.

Buyer Beware- very difficult to put together

I chose this cabinet because I read some reviews on the cheaper laminate models and they were iffy so I thought if I spent a little more money it might make a difference in the quality. I was wrong. This is not worth the money they charge. The back of the cabinet is a heavy cardboard and the bottom of the drawers is a thin luan/plastic-y type of material. The handles are plastic. I caution you to be very careful handling the laminate parts during construction because they scratch and dent very easily.

It came out of the box with the front edge corner crunched and chipped to the particle board. I thought it wouldn't be a problem since I could touch it up. I should have put it back in the box and returned it right then, because there were more problems to come.

The next problem was the missing hardware, I couldn't finish one of the drawers because they didn't send enough screws for the glider track. I figured I could order the one screw so I plowed ahead to continue to put the rest of it together. I should have put it back in the box and returned it right then.

Finally, 3 hours later when it was all built, I went to put the one finished drawer on the glider tracks. Once it was in, the drawer was wonky, there was more space on one side than the other and it rubs. I can't even install the other drawer until I receive the replacement screw.

I can't give a full review because the top drawer is not in due to the missing screw so I can't tell you if the lock works or not and I will not load in any files until I have the thing fully put together.

I am tempted to take the whole thing apart and send it back but good luck getting all the pieces back in the box they send it in and it is way too heavy for one person to lift. So here it stays with a lot of buyers remorse.
