This desk can be found on several websites, but some have it priced over $300. Walmart has it priced fairly, but will also match other websites if you find a lower price (they did this for me + I got free shipping!). Couldn't beat the deal. On top of that, the unit is beautiful. I found that it was only rated 3 stars on Amazon, mostly because people said it was too difficult to put together. Not true. Time consuming, Yes; difficult, No ! It did take me hours to put together. But, I was able to do it by myself (no hubby) and the directions were perfect. Anybody who says otherwise is not a patient person! All pieces fit together perfect (not like Ikea furniture), very sturdy and stained nicely. Definitely worth the money, in fact - it looks like a more expensive piece !!!

This desk is absolutely perfect for our home office! My husband and I each have a side that we can store our work in, and the space on top is perfect for our laptops and paperwork to fit on!

I love this desk!

The desk was packaged well enough that it didn't get damaged in shipping. Upon opening the box you may feel overwhelmed by the amount of pieces that you will find. Don't let this get you down, if you have 3 hours available and some patience this will be no problem. My suggestion would be to first lay all the parts out alphabetically to help you find them when you need them. I was very surprised at the adjustable drawers, most of the cam lock furniture comes with the cheap drawer slides that just go together and if the drawer is crooked oh well that's what you get. So needless to say the drawers work and look awesome. I'd say the quality is pretty good for the price you pay. The one thing we noticed after assembly that we didn't realize upon purchase that in the middle of the desk top 2/3 of the way back is a hole for computer cords. We wanted a solid top but we'll live with it. It's not a deal breaker. In the end the desk is a great purchase and looks great in our office nook. I would recommend this to anyone.

Great desk for price

I really love that this desk has the right amount of style. Not too much, but it doesn't look like you are a college student. Very sturdy and gender neutral. I bought it for my husband as a valentines gift and he loves it! I am considering buying the same one for myself just because I do love it.

In another review it said that the file holders in the drawers aren't standard size...yes they are. The face horizontal not vertical. I actually really like bit because it is easier to get to the files from the chair at the desk.

The only reason I didn't give this desk 5 stars is because it was really heavy and hard to put together. I had to have a guy friend lifting up the stairs but he had to take a break about every five steps (works out ). Once its together it is easier to move though for sure. Three of us put it together and it took us 4 hours. One person would take a long time, at least two. Don't try to attempt carry this yourself. If it wasn't heavy than it wouldn't be as sturdy though.

Great desk with style!

Overall, we are very pleased with this desk. The composite wood makes the box very heavy. I moved it by myself, but only because I have an appliance dolly. The instructions for assembly are very detailed and easy to follow. The drawers are adjustable if they don't line up. I didn't have to adjust anything. We actually ordered two of these, one for each wall of our office with the book case from this series in the corner between them. I wish I could attach a picture. It is a beautiful set up. Assembling the second desk went faster, of course, because I knew what I was doing. The instructions say to not use a power drill, but I used one for the longer screws and it worked fine and sped things up. One thing I am afraid of is, when we go to move this desk (whether to another room or another house), lifting it from both ends bends the desktop in the middle. There is very little support for the middle of the desktop. We will take extra precaution when moving these.

Honest Review

I'm super happy with this desk. It looks great, and is good quality for the price. I have a 27" i-mac and have plenty of room. Yes, the directions do require attention to detail, but everything is there to make it seemless. Plenty of space between the two shelves, top drawers and file cabinets. I was able to get rid of 3 file cabinet drawers, so this ended being a huge space saver in my office. Four stars, only because there were some exterior chips that happened during shipping, but aren't really noticeable. Desk arrived earlier than expected too.

Awesome Desk

Upon receiving the desk and opening up the package, the main top piece was broken in half. Probably the cause of the package weighing 120lbs. Carrying it upstairs was no easy task. Set up wasn't too difficult, although some of the drill holes didn't align right however we were able to make it work. Also one of the pieces on the drawers handle had a piece broken off but we felt that we could live with it since we didn't need another 120lb box arrive to our house. The top of it is pretty smooth so it does show a lot of finger printers however the desk itself seems pretty solid.

Good desk

I was somewhat prepared from reading previous reviews. The packaging for this desk was very flimsy. The cardboard had a rip in it when it arrived. Since it had only one long piece (the desk top), the top was totally cracked when we opened the box. There was no problem getting a replacement from Sauder though. It arrived in about 5 days.

The desk has a lot of parts and took my husband and his friend several hours to put together. It does look cool and he likes it a lot. I think it was a great value despite these issues.

Nice desk but I agree with the other reviews

Terrible to put together. Many of the parts aren't labeled. But it was too heavy & messy by that point to return. Several hours! Drawers are very narrow, don't slide well & aren't level so it makes the desk look lower quality. I do like the dark finish. Desktop nice size.

Ok desk.

I am a professional engineer so I figured when I read the reviews that the desk is challenging to assemble that it couldn't be that bad. The directions and assembly of the desk were poorly written and designed. The quick connects for the large drawers are hidden under boards when it is time to tighten them (I reread and confirmed it was a mistake in the manual). The pieces are poorly labeled. A few of the long screws are not properly predrilled and require fastening through the end of a 3/8 board making board splitting very likely.

The manual also started out fairly detailed and got vague the further through it you went. It is as if the technical writer got tired and just started to assume you knew what you were suppose to do if you got that far in the book. The piece assembly order is not obvious due to the angles, tight fitting components and number of parts. Start to finish it took me 4 hours to assemble and I assemble components all day long.

The construction is also a bit weak. I would have used different fasteners to attach the top desk and probably used wooden dowels instead of quick connects in a bunch of the locations. The top will likely separate if the desk is moved far and the quick connects make building it difficult when there are easier fasteners.

I was also slightly disappointed by the quality. Due to the angles the bottom of the big draw sticks out a bit beyond the drawer. This would look fine except for the fact that the bottom is not laminated and when the drawer is closed you can see 1/4 of raw wood. The sides of the drawer also do not exactly line up partially due to the wood not being predrilled. This again gives minor glimpses of raw wood.

If it wasn't such a pain to disassemble I would have likely returned this product.
