In an age of ever increasing handholding in tech, it's refreshing to find that this 43 inch television offers all of the functionality and inputs one could want with today's devices without frustrating software baked in. It's as simple as plugging it in, turning it on, and attaching your devices! No firmware updates, no signing into a million accounts, just you and your media on the screen, as TVs were meant to be. As someone who has grown up with tube TVs and the need for coax to RF adapters, this television is a perfect fit for any need; a high-quality display without any of the headaches that come with “smart“ TVs.

Simple and clean, the way it should be!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am only needing a regular TV.  Not the huge oversized TV.  Not the Smart or streaming services.  It's impossible to find what I need in the brick and mortar stores anymore.

Hard to find a “dumb tv” where you don't need a subscription to use it. Connected Apple TV and a DVD player to have all we need. Sound could be better. But great TV for the price!

Great Dumb TV

I bought this because I was scared by how terrible and invasive Smart TVs have been getting (no numbers on remote control, having your every move tracked). I also noticed that between automatic ads, screensavers, multiple menus on the home screen and loading screens, it was taking longer and longer to watch OTA television. With this TV, there aren't any 30 second loading screens, a million menu options or automatic ads to close out if I just want to watch local TV. You turn it on, there's a five second screen, and you're in. 

Reception and sound are okay at this price point, and I was able to get all of my stations with a wall antenna. The only thing I really dislike is the remote control. It's so huge and clunky that I'll probably switch to a universal. Other than that, I'm very happy with this TV and can now rest easy that I'm not being tracked.

Nice TV. Watching it as I write. Nothing difficult to set up. Great picture. Sound is great as long as everybody isn't talking at once. Why buy Smart TV's when you got plenty of optional hook ups like fire sticks, roku's etc. 32" Smart Samsung TV just went out and I replaced with non-Smart 32" Sceptre TV. Then bought this Sceptre 43" cause it was reasonably priced too. Who needs a TV to be Smart when the Dumb ones work just fine. Lol. It was a better buy even if I didn't have peripherals like a fire stick yet. Do the math. Both 1080p.

Good Buy.

This TV is picture perfect. I am totally impressed with the SCEPTRE brand. The color and charity are outstanding. The price is phenomenal as well. I also picked the SCEPTRE  brand because I didn't want a smart tv, just simple HDM1 and audio (for soundbar), and RCA connections. No tedious  programming, setting up, or downloading anything. I can stream off my 4K UHD bluray disc player.

Maybe the only "non-smart" TV left in the world!  Do you have an elderly person in your family that constantly struggles with inputs, and streaming content and endless menus?  This TV plugs into a standard tv cable and works!
We paired with a universal remote made for seniors/dementia folks with just a power, volume and channel button.
Changed a bad situation into a great one for our dear mother.

Perfect for aged - disabled

I liked the fact that this is a "dumb" TV . I did not want anything fancy for my use. It was easy to put together, but the legs are wat flimsier than the old ones, of course. The only issue that I had was I didn't like the sound all that much. So I decided to buy a cheap sound bar to help it. The price was excellent. Can't complain.

Good deal for the money

I'm 65; I've been around wireless for a long time, and wanted a "stupid" TV, to avoid the 5G microwave effect on my body. I have a 43" Sceptre Komodo, and thought this was going to be similar.  But it this version DOES NOT have a VGA port, which was ESSENTIAL to me.  There's a picture that shows one, but check the specs; NO VGA.  I'm adamant now, that there MUST be a second option to connect a PC; because I bought a 65" Hisense from Walmart that had the HDMI go out after 7 years, and guess what? There are NO VGA ports!  Check any 'smart' tv, and see if you get a second option for connectivity; The TV still works fine , but I have zip for inputs!  So; I've changed my strategy; I now also own two Emerson 40" TV's with VGA ports, and if I lose the HDMI; I have a VGA port for my computer, and if I lose the VGA; I have two more TV's, and I'm only out $200, instead of $700; I just moved closer to the TV, and It's like having a 55"....

There are NO VGA ports

For those of us no wanting smart TVs this is a great choice. Has composite, VGA, HDMI, component inputs for connecting all your older devices minus all the surveillance.

Great TV for what it does

0 stars if I could. You get what you pay for. This tv is awful. The picture is bad, sounds even worse, the color is off no matter how much you adjust. Its getting returned. I wasn't expecting much but definitely expected better than this piece of garbage
