Great soils for plants

I have been using this product for a few years. It has been the best one. Great for indoor and outdoor use. I always start my tomato plants indoors and replant them outside. The soil is rich with nutrients. My plants always look healthy and grow magnificently.The only potting soil I will use.

I tried this brand for the first time this year and was so thrilled by the starter plants that I thought I'd have success with other brands,mostly cheaper ones, and was disappointed.  Even after transplanting the plants to my garden, the plants I started with Schultz grew bigger and produced more vegetables than the other plants.  I used seeds from the same pack.

Not very impressed. I got it home and the bag is half full. Obviously sold my weight. What a rip off.

You need to buy two bags

I've used this soil in the past and liked it. This bag I noticed that as I potted plants with soil close to the bottom I started to get fruit flies/gnats.

Maybe got a bad bag?

This is not my go-to brand but it works ok in the short term.
Generally, I find too much debris (such as bark and twigs) mixed in and the soil often retains way too much moisture and gets moldy easily. Hello, fungus gnats

Good In a Pinch

I bought this because I really needed to repot my monstera deliciosa and my syngonium, they were root bound when I bought them. After repotting them, using this soil, I water them and now I have fungus gnats. So I made sure the soil is nice a dry before watering them again but now it's impossible to water. I try bottom watering my plants and this soil won't absorb the water, so I try top watering and it's not watering evenly. 
The soil that my plants came with when I bought them, waters so easily regardless how dry the soil got and didn't give me fungus gnats.
I also have a pilea peperomioides that still in the same soil and nursery pot that I bought it in. That soil is super easy to water too.

The bag we bought of this "potting soil" has little actual soil in it.  It is full of twigs and half-rotted wood chips along with some moss, sand and a little vermiculite.  There were also a couple of pieces of unidentifiable plastic in it. It looks like someone threw a half-rotted brush pile into a wood chipper and didn't do much of a job of it.  As well as looking very unpromising as a growing media, it is hard to work with, because of all the twigs and wood chunks getting in the way of a decent pack around the transplant roots.  The bag promises wonderful things, but we won't be buying this again!
