The post office prefers it over any other type of tape because it stays in place and it doesn't gum up their machines. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the best tape I have ever used for packaging items to mail. I have used it on boxes going by UPS, Fed-X, and Postal. I have never had any damage to anything I have shipped. I also use the tape for storage boxes and it lasts so long and doesn't dry out like some tape. I have even used it to close plastic bags sent to me from catalog companies when I return items. Nothing has ever gotten lost and items have always arrived in excellent condition. Just can't get better packaging tape than SCOTT!

Safety in Mailing Packages

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since you have come out with the "easier" to handle packaging tape dispenser- no longer am I messing the tape all up with my attempt to put it on a package. For years and years I always hated having to get the "tape gun" as we all called it because even when it ran out we all dreaded having to remember the flow of how the tape was threaded to come out on the other end correctly. Maybe I am in the minority with the previous hassle of packaging tape but I don't think so. This has been like a miracle in our office.

Packaging Tape

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was thrilled to have Scotch Heavy Duty Shipping Packaging Tape available to seal my return!  I needed to return a box filled with multiple heavy items. This tape was amazing for getting a very neat and tight seal when closing.  The dispenser made stretching the tape across the box a breeze.  The serrated cutting edge was efficient when I needed to clip the end of the tape. I would highly recommend this when you want a high performance seal with ease of use.

Look no more, this tape does it all!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a free sample of 3M Scotch Heavy Duty Packaging Tape and used this product to seal a package to mail.  I had difficulty getting the tape started.  There is a "tab" that appears to be the starting point, but in fact the tape ran over and past this point, so I struggled to find the beginning of the roll.  Also, there is a piece of cardboard that says "remove here" that protects the cutting blade edge which is  a great safety feature.  However once I removed the cardboard where indicated, the cutting edge was still covered up with part of the attached cardboard, thus making cutting the tape difficult.  I tried to remove the residual cardboard tab, but it is well secured, so I was not successful.  I don't know if that little tab that remains is supposed to be left on for protection of the blade, or removed, but if left on, the cutting edge is blocked, and if it is to be removed, I cannot figure out how to do so without cutting myself on the cutting edge!  However the tape itself is wonderful!  It dispensed very easily and smoothly.  I cannot tear it, which assures secure sealing.  It has it's own dispenser, which would be very handy except for the above issues.  It is clear tape, so you can see where you are putting it which is obviously important when sealing a seam or package edges. I love the tape and would recommend it for anyone's packaging needs.

Great Packaging Tape with a Few Hick-ups

Scotch Brand

Tape continually falls back on the roll.  Hard to find the edge to unpeel.  And hard to get the tape unstuck from roll without it splintering into ribbons.  Wastes my time, wastes tape and creates frustration each and every time.  Seems like Scotch packaging and engineering staff should have addressed these shortcomings years ago.

Terrible Dispenser and Tape which Splits

Thing is almost impossible to use.  Does not include how to start tape in dispenser--so far no matter how I put the tape in dispenser it does not work easily.

Too hard to load tape into dispenser.

Purchased multiple rolls (20-25) of both regular duty packaging tape as well as "heavy duty" shipping/packaging tape.  Tape does not stick to boxes at all, so you end up having to go completely around each box to allow the tape to stick to itself.  Even comes loose from bubble wrap.  If you want to use twice as much tape as should be needed, buy this product.

Worst Packaging Tape Ever!
