Booyah!!  Doesn't even look like the same lawn.  Scarified => Aerated => Lawnsoil top dress => Scarified again to mix in to native soil => Seed => Water water water.

Massive Improvement!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've applied this to a bare spot in my yard I've struggled to fix for 2 years. I applied Scott's turf builder lawn soil and seeded with Scott's rapid grow grass seed. Within a few days I have already noticed the difference.

I've been buying this for years when I overseed for winter. This is my last year with Scotts. After putting down 4 bags, I noticed a lot of garbage in the mix. Lots of rocks, large pieces of wood, and actual trash. The remaining bags are going back and I'll switch to another company going forward.

Good product but horrible quality assurance

Bought this product about two weeks ago and luckily emptied the bag into a wheelbarrow to work out of. There was quite a few pieces of rubber, larger rocks, wood and plastic pieces.  Had to sift through a bit to remove the garbage before placing on the lawn.  Quality is not there for the cost of this bag of soil.  Not buying again.

Not Worth The Cost

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this product as a base to start new grass seed in a worn section of lawn. After cultivating the worn area I applied the lawn soil and then Scotts grass seed on top working it slightly into the soil. After several weeks I have had minimal grass growth even after watering regularly. 
I am not impressed with this product! I have had better luck in the past using peat moss along with grass seed to repair an area.

We may never know.



Do you remember that scene from the 2008 comedy film Step Brothers directed by Adam McKay where the bunk bed falls on Brennan Huff, presumably crushing him to death and ending his dream to be the world's greatest singer? And Dale Doback screaming to his parents after, "there's blood everywhere!" Well, that line kept going through my head as I spread 250 bags of Scotts® Turf Builder® LawnSoil over my lawn. There's trash everywhere. There's glass everywhere. The horror. The horror. 



Over the subsequent weeks of daily watering, I was able to extract piles and piles of goodies that Scotts® included in the bags I bought. I've even added a picture showing the first day of loot. This pile was indicative of what I would find and gather each day while watering. It seemed like a never ending task. But as I pushed myself through the doubt, building up a collection of trash to disgust even my trash man, I realized the effort was in vain. Scotts® had won. They had broken my ego, and I understood that I'm only one man with an acre of land in an unfair and brutal world. I fell to my knees, letting my hands drop to my sides, as the debris I had gathered fell back to the ground, and let out an unhuman wail of agony. That moment will go down as one of my life's most profound failures. I hold back tears of shame as I write this review, but in doing so, maybe I can prevent someone else from experiencing the same pain.

I'm not even mad, that's amazing

I needed to fill and reseed a few holes in my lawn. I bought this product thinking “soil” means dirt. Well to my surprise, it's more like very fine bark mulch. It's not dirt at all. It doesn't pack down and is very spongy. I would not recommend this product at all if you're trying to fill any holes. I would not even use this as topsoil before seeding. Next time I'd just prefer to buy dirt in a bag without any other ingredients.

Not what I thought it was.

Bought this to save my grass, and all it was in the 2 bags that I bought was mulch - no soil. Very disappointed that I spent the money on something that isn't what was advertised. Won't be using again.

Too many pieces of  plastic material in the soil for the price will look for another product next time
