If you already have a backup device, buy this one as a 2nd backup Hard Drive, that way if one goes bad, you have your personal files saved on another device! ;)

I use the external drive for backup.  It was very easy to set up and easy to use.  I can start my copy to the drive  and just forget it and let it run while I sleep. It is very reliable.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Plug and play. Using it to record Free TV  shows from a digital converter box connected to an air TV antennae.  Not using it to backup my computer, but it could be used for that just as easily.

My Xternal Hard Drive

When it comes to external drives I only use Seagate which I have many of their 2 TB drives... For me I toggle them on and off on a USB strip, using the info on each disk as needed and I've only had 1 issue, where one of my HDD's has 3 bad sectors, which I'm not sure why... I've tried to repair but it says unrepairable and of course the warranty is out... 

The only other issue is they've changed their shell from a ni steel to a plastic casing, which is a bit cheap but as long as they work I'll be fine... 

My only advice is to have several backups of your data, in externals and even dvd's...

Works but had to buy new as had one corrupt...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] You don't get the full 2tb, it isn't just plug and play you have to go Into disk management and reformat it if you're using it for pc or your pc won't recognize it. The port on the hard drive itself is loose and the cable has to sit a certain way but it's alright for the price I guess.

it does not let you play all downloaded games, dunno y

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I chose what to back up, it would only back up the folders, and not the files in the folders. I tried to contact Seagate, but the peson had such a thick accent, and her English was so bad, I couldn't understand how to fix the problem, so I gave up.

Waste of money

it does not show as a program except in start up. even then when you finally access it,  it states it needsvto be initialized. so i proceed to begin to initialize it and i get warmings and alerts that there is something missing and i cant proceed. i'm not a networking person, but am a web developer. my current external hardrive was easy to plug in, get identified and it has been compatible with 3 different computers.

This hard drive stared out working great.. Then once it was almost half for of important data, it disappeared, and my PC or laptop couldn't find it anywhere... So I have lost all the data. I really hated this outcome :(
