Like the safe but the key broke off in the lock. The keys are thin and will break. Fortunately, mine broke off in the unlocked position and the safe will open. If it were locked, OH BOY! YouTube videos show how to remove the piece that's left inside the lock. Hope I can do it.

Weight of safe is reasonable for the protection it provides. Purchase was primarily to protect documents from fire, not security. Not sure how well the key lock would handle an aggressive attack, but it does keep random folks from accessing sensitive documents. Interior is large enough to handle passports, wills (not legal size papers) and similar. Or valuables that need to be accessed quickly (but not something that a thief would grab the whole safe %26 haul away to break into later).

I like knowing my important documents will be safe in the event of a fire. Fires are devastating enough let alone having to worry about your stuff that needs protected. This is my second one, decided to store even more important things. Not cheap, but do you really want something cheap and take the chance?

Second purchase

The seller should put a piece of scotch tape over the lock so that styrofoam doesn't have to be fished out in order to open.  

it's a safe  - it's heavy.  once I got the packaging out of the keys hole works fine.   this is great for storing documents and other valuables.  very sturdy

We already have one of these we've had for about 20 years or so..but we've been intending to get another, due to that fact that we can keep the personal tax records in such a box, without worry about fire, etc. 
getting more organized this year, meant getting this box, and yes, it has helped a lot. I put a lot of hanging files in it. 
The price is very reasonable..it's great.

This is a good product for the home organizer...

I bought it for the safety of documents.  It was better than expected at a very fair price.  Large enough to fit many items.  Just the right size.  High quality.

Excellent product

Fit  all of my documents just fine however, I can't comment on how well it would hold up in a fire. However, there are decent YouTube videos out at demonstrate that.

When moving I packed the safe in a box with cushioning and the movers dropped the box and the outside if the safe cracked in several places. The keys are thin and break easily. Broke a key in the lock and had to break open safe. Just not a good overall value for the money.

Not a good value

The Key/Lock quality is not ideal.  The key will only unlock the safe after fidgeting with it for some time.  Also, I can't remove the key when it's unlocked.  (The key can only be removed in the locked position)  I do like the size of the safe, plenty of room for documents, external hard drives, photos, etc...  There are no handles for moving/carrying the safe like the smaller models have.

Box is well made and fits our needs to store files, BUT there is no handle on the box so picking it up and carrying it is awkward.  Seems it would have been simple enough to add a handle so I wonder why not?

The safe is too heavy and lacks the space needed to serve its intended purpose; the original description was inaccurate.” Don't waste your time or money unless you want an upper body work out trying to return this beast! It received a one rating because zero wasn't an option.
