Just what I needed for my grab and go document storage.  Perfect size to store printed versions of important documents along with digital copies.  Roomy inside, allows me to store a few additional personal items. I have thin hands so I will be wrapping something around the hard plastic handle if I need to carry it for more than a minute.  No issues with opening and closing.  Overall nice purchase

Feels like a quality product. Heavy and solid construction. Roomy enough to hold 81/2 x 11 paper flat, and deep enough for an impressive number of papers, photos, etc. Handle makes it easier to carry this roughly 20 lb. safe-box. A good solution for gathering, storing and protecting my most vital documents. Very pleased with this purchase.

We just bought a second lockbox after having one for ten years.  Our bank is doing away with safe deposit boxes (by doubling the annual fee) so we closed it and needed additional storage space at home.  While we've never had a fire or flood to live test the box, it feels very secure.  It locks securely and has reassuring heft.  The price is fair and the company guarantee is reassuring.

CFW20201 Is Solid & Secure For Important Documents

The basement of my daughter’s home was flooded and she lost important papers stored in a filing cabinet. I gave him that safe. Now she knows that all her important documents will always be very well protected from water. She is very pleased with the design of this box.

Perfect safe

Our old safe was on its last leg and we needed something new. After looking around and considering a number of different safes, we decided on this one. It was a perfect choice! Meets our needs, easy to carry, and does not take up a lot of room in our small condo.

Just what we needed!

Intended use was to store valuable mechanics. Airtight seal prevents this. Removed airtight seal in order to allow free air circulation. Remains to be tested. Given the mass and weight of the object, the retractable handle feels slightly flimsy and fragile. Time will tell...

Not Suitable For Intended Use!

How do you review a safe a few days after buying it and it hasn't been in a 1700°F (927°C) fire for 30 minutes or under water for 72 hours?  It appears well built but I don't think it's impervious to being drilled open. I like the fact in can contain 8 x 11 inch  papers flat but there's no extra room to prevent curling if they are in an envelope. This is an issue because, in the event of a fire, the manual states the patented insulation has a high moisture content which can damage delicate items and Master Lock is not responsible for damage or loss due to moisture. If you place your papers in a plastic bag (e.g. Ziploc bag) it will melt within the safe UL specification. Therefore to protect your documents from damage by the safe, Master Lock Customer Service suggests placing the papers in a paper envelope then a plastic bag.

Safe and Secure ??

The Key is difficult to use, its heavy and the handle is very loose and awkward location and on the way of trying to put the key in. Could have been better engineered . Also any little thing gets in the way around the seal (like paperwork ) it will not shut .

Really disappointed in the quality of these products. Bought the larger chest first, but the latch would not engage and the front latch mechanism fell off. Bought the next size down, the CHW 20101, because it looked similar to the one I bought several years ago. It's however smaller in a critical dimension, that prevents you from easily storing folders. The rubber seal on the lid also came off the first time I closed it and was creased between the lid and base. I would a different brand if there was something similar in this price range, but there is not. I would have gladly paid a little more to get a better product. At least I get basic fire and water protection.

Product quality has really gone down

Had this for less than six months and the lock already broke on it the "new style" keys are quite cheaply made and I thought it would make the safe safer having a different style of key but all that it is is a metal tube with a magnet in the middle as soon as the magnet stops working so does your safe and to be completely honest it was easier to break into than any safe I've seen I literally broke into it with my bare hands
