[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this combo over a year now and it has stoodup the test of salt water here in the caribbean. I go fishing almost every sunday if i get the chance. I have caught very nice fish with this rod and reel.

This is an amazing rod. Strong durable and can cast a mile with it. Caught many fish with it.

Great rod

Great for the two weeks I go to the beach each year. Has held up good for about ten years. don't get it wet in the saltwater. If you do you'll need to rinse it or it will rust. Landed a 50 pound redfish on it with 30lb line. If you live near the beach or go a lot you should buy a better real this one will not hold up to every day use.

Great vacation combo

I got the biggest combo. I'm noted for putting these things through abuse casting ability the best I have ever seen I added the lock tight to the reel bolt as suggested on a review Then 100 lb power pro line the reel bolt coming out could be solved by adding a fiber insert to the bolt ready for Spoonbill (Paddle fish) I plan to add a video later.

Great combo.

I bought this Combo for my sons birthday The rod take the abuse of heavy fishing the reel will not the second time out the handle broke (Shakespeare replaced free of charge) the third time out the reel broke at the mounting point. It was beyond the 30 days so I didn't even bother. At the time we had a rather large fish on the line we got the fish and got rid of the reel. The plastic will not hold up great design bad material the reel needs to be metal with metal gears. I looked at the commanders but found out they had plastic gears.

Great Rod Bad Reel

I purchased this combo just before Memorial Day 2015 and I have been out about 5 times with it. The handle nut came loose and I fixed that with some thread lock. Today the screw on the bail came apart. Luckily I found all the peices. I will fix this with some thread lock and probably replace the reel with a better brand. But the rod is top notch. Pulled in about 4 skate, 2 blue fish and 5 sand shark.
