Keep the original tie off the end of the line when it arrives. You'll need that after you fish and store away, to tie to the fishing line once you remove the hook. It's great for being a child's fishing pole. The reel doesn't come apart, fixing major issues won't be possible so store with care.

My 9-year-old daughter loved it, and it is now our cat's favorite toy. The wire should be thicker because it breaks all the time, and we have to keep retying it to the fish.

well made, and how perfect for 1st time fishing pole.

Can't beat this for a first fishing rod for kids.

The screw to get to the actual line is a hindrance and is not user friendly.

Bought this today so my step dad could teach my 7 year old daughter how to fish. Got out in the boat and within 5 minutes, the line snapped. We realized very quickly that the screw on the side is absolutely useless. Had my husband try to fix it, who by the way, can fix pretty much anything, he's old school and fixes things so they don't get thrown in a landfill and he said it's a peice of junk. Never had a fishing rod where you cant replace the line!! Needless to say, I had a heartbroken little girl. Very disappointed!!!!!!!

Sad little girl

I bought this not even a hour ago and already the line is in the reel and I can not retrieve it due to the retainer "plug screw" stripping rather then opening. I'm now out on my family fishing trip with a sad 4 year old girl. Disappointed. Seems y'all should change the designs with so many bad reviews of this individual feature!

You know, I didnt expect much for the price of this product. However, knowing that kids will probably mess up the line, the design should be that which parents can take it apart and fix it if needed. The plastic screw on the side makes that absolutely impossible.  At a first attempt to open it, the screw completely stripped. It seems as though the  company just wants you to be forced to purchase a new one, which is disappointing. Everything else about the product is fine, but inevitably you WILL have to undo that screw at some point and then the quality of the rest of the product doesn't matter

I cannot get into the reel because the cheap plastic screw holding the cover in place is, well, cheap.
