The carrier is well-built and the ramp is long enough that it makes loading a power chair easy. The only area that can be improved is to make a light bar (sold at Walmart around $25) included with a long enough wire to reach the hitch plug in. Great product.

The shipping and the care taken with shipping was excellent from Discount Ramps. I ordered late one afternoon and two days later I had the carrier in my possession. It works very nicely on the back of my pick up. My daughter and grandson installed it and it took them about an hour. The only glitch in installation was a 10MM allen wrench which I had to locate one to get it on tightly. Other than that it was perfect. I have a mobility pride scooter and it goes right up the ramp with ease and to strap it down takes seconds. If you need a way to carry your scooter do not be afraid to purchase from this company or this carrier.

It works perfectly.  I used it to transport a scooter driving a few hundred miles and had no problems.  But, I had to use two parking spaces each time we parked to make room for the carrier.

Sturdy and dependable

This scooter carrier is great and folds up behind the car.  It is easily usable and one person can set the ramp and load your scooter.  we are very pleased with this item.  We give it 5 Stars.

Works very well. Just a little side to side movement when in upright empty position but not noisy or troublesome. Very easy to get motorized scooter on and off. I use a motorcycle jack under the carrier to remove the carrier from the hitch when not in use. Makes it very easy to slide back in as everything is set to level and at the proper height. Takes less than 10 minutes to reinstall. Very nice unit. My only glitch is that I had my backup camera raised to the top of the tailgate in order to be able to use it properly when the lift is installed. I would recommend this item. Installed on Honda Pilot.

Works Very Well

My husband just recently got a powered wheelchair so I needed to get a carrier for it. The only drawback that I have is that I wish the ramp part didn't have a lip on it but had a smoother transition. The wheelchair my husband has is difficult at times to get the chair on the ramp because of this. His chair has two small wheels in the front and the back and two larger wheels in the middle. When you get the two small wheels on the ramp it then brings the chair slightly off the ground which then the two larger wheels (they are the main ones) just spin since they are no longer completely on the ground. Other than that it's a great product.

Just what I needed

I purchased this carrier because I need to bring my power wheelchair with me when I travel.  I am more fortunate than most in that I bring my car to San Leandro MB where Willie built a custom made Class V trailer hitch for my 2000 E320 wagon.  the first issue we encountered was the carrier was a little beat up upon arrival and tipped quite noticeably to the right, standing behind the car.  The tilt got noticeably worse as I drove the chair up onto the ramp.  The inch plus list to the right tripled to where the carrier was 3 inches closer to the ground than the left side when loaded.  Even when we reloaded to carrier, backing the power wheelchair up so the heavy side, most of the weight, was on the left side the carrier was tippy and still listing slightly, but noticeably to the right.  The mount that runs from the tilt up and down mount bracket running into the square center tube had so much play in it we took a bottle jack, jacked up the right side and welded the insert bar to the carrier to lock it in place and to stop it from being so tippy and loose.  We also need to weld on a kickstand like bar on the front right of the carrier to swing down so the carrier doesn't tip so much when loading.  My mechanic liked the carrier but not the choice of smaller square tubing in the mount and thought they should fit together without any play.  We also needed to weld quarter inch steel plating on the bottom of outside square tubing that will drag time to time on steep V transitions because the pubs will were through or crush if they hit to hard.  We also mounted 1.5" heavy duty metal wheels on the outside bottom on both sides so if the carrier grounds out it will roll and not scrape.  Willie concluded if they made a few modification that would add less than seven pounds to the carrier it would be one of the best on the market under the $300 price point.  We took the loose sloppy carrier that we unboxed and assembled.  Picked up two steel casters, fashioned a kickstand with a locking pin to hold it while in transit.  Welded on two 1/4" steel plate 1.5"W X 4"L skids and almost, it was to tilted to the right, leveled the carrier when we welded the loose tube mount that runs from the tilt up and down mount bracket running into the square center tube of the carrier.  With a little ingenuity some inexpensive parts, a chop saw, a welder and black spray paint I now have a strong, stable, carrier that I love.  I hope the manufacture who made this carrier from Discount Ramps sees this product review, incorporated the modifications we did and sells lots of these carriers.  I'd pay the extra $30 buck in parts and labor it would take to make this as strong and well designed my carrier is now, out-of-the-box.

This carrier needs to be improved

if I could get a refund I would. it sways back and forth and it drags when I'm driving.

it's going back.  on our maiden  voyage, some of the mesh  collapsed and came off parts of the ramp pushing my 350 lb wheelchair up onto the platform, causing it to tip over.   midway up. it topped tword my daughter pushing from the vehicle side.  thankfully, she  was uninjured, but was pinned.

The SUV is more than capable of varying the weight but the carrier itself has too much flex to for my 375 lb Permobile M300 no matter how slow you go any kind of bump, rail road tracks, speed bumps, even a smooth but hilly ride the carrier hits rock bottom. Maybe if you have a truck or a full sized SUV it would work for you but we put it on a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport and drove about 20 minutes but don't feel it's safe to use. I called and asked ahead of time verifying the vehicle used, type of chair I have and weight of the chair with the dealer specifically asking about movenent weight and flex with the dealer and he assured me this would work for me. It doesn't.
