I bought the Singer HD 6800C sewing machine for myself for Christmas.  I wanted to buy this machine during the COVID shut down when my old machine broke but it was sold out.  I ended up buying a Ja**me HD machine.  It's a good machine for basic items but I needed one that could handle denim and also have a lot of stitches without having to hook up to a computer.  This machine does that and more.  It's super easy to use, seems to be very well built and the instructions are easy to follow.  After having it for a month now, I would recommend.  It sews really good and is definitely user friendly.  The only thing I would say Singer could improve is to include a user manual.  That is not included.  It must be downloaded on the computer and printed off.  No big deal but come on, included the manual.

I was attracted to the 6800c because of its advanced features. I'll never use 98% of the programmed stitches. However, I love the programmable needle up/down feature. Also the automated thread cutter and stitch knot. Makes securing the beginning and ending of a stitch line so easy. The motor is powerful and pressed through leather and heavy material.

Great machine, even for a novice like me.

I waited so long to finally have my dream sewing machine. I love the ease of going from heavy to light fabrics. I've seen garments, crafts and all with ease. My only wish is that they t came with manual. Some of us are old school and like paper manuals.

Go from light to heavy seeing with ease

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very impressed with this sewing machine, I was sewing heavy canvas with an older brother that need significant servicing and it was a much better deal to buy this they to have the brother even looked at. it's sewn through heavy sunbrella like it was nothing.

I am very happy with my purchase (HD6800C). I bought this model because it has the stitch speed option and I just love it! I love the price for what I get and can only say one thing I did not like is the color, sorry but wished it came in the new black. Everything else I think is great!

Had this now for a couple week, using it quite a bit already. I chose this machine for it's heavy duty sewing capability. The machine's computer is easy to use. I love the lock stitch and the cutter especially. I'm sewing on heavy sweater fabrics so I am cleaning under the plate often as fuzz accumulates quickly, but that's to be expected. I am also using the even feed foot for these projects, which at first was not working but seems to be okay now. The arm on the foot that follows the needle shaft would stick in the up position and then cause knotting up because the feed wasn't happening. Other brands I've used have a pronged arm that attaches around the needle shaft screw so it stays in place. This one only sets on top so there is nothing to keep it moving with the shaft. I rubber banded it in place but it would either come off or break. Again, it seems to be working now.

HD 6800C

I've tried the machine on a number of projects, but when it came down to doing a commission to re upholster 4 chairs, it failed. The material was vinyl and it could handle the seams, but when it came to the top stitching the stitches were inconsistent. The needle would vibrate wildly at the extra layer and catch in loops on yhe bottom, as I tried to remove the knots at the bobbin, it took off on it's own sewing without touching the foot. I'm lucky it didn't sew through my finger. The customer was not pleased with the finish on the tops stitching. I removed it several times & re-sewed it costing lots of extra time. I may not get paid for all that work because of this. Yes, I adjusted the tension & ran a test on scrap vinyl. I was sent home with 2 of the chairs to re-do again. I'm very disappointed with this machine.

Not so heavy duty

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am having problems with my new singer, sewing machine. I can't thread the needle. It's not sewing at this point for some reason I don't know why and I'd like to return it as soon as possible. Not sure what I have to do to return it, but I'd appreciate if someone could get back

Lower quality than I was expecting. The machine is terrible with buttonholes and basting. I've had to rip out multiple attempts at buttonholes, and the machine simply gets stuck when I try to base. It was a fairly inexpensive machine, and I guess that's what I ended up with.

Very disappointing. The automatic thread cutter does not work - does not cut the top thread. Right out of the box. Do the machines get ANY quality control before they are getting shipped out? And this is a second purchase of Singer machine. The first purchased, Quantun 9960 bird-nested the beginning of the stitch. Right out of the box as well.
