I bought this soda system for my husband who loves club soda. He really likes it and uses it daily (2 years now). You can take the empties into Walmart and get a core credit so the canisters are cheaper than what you see on the shelf, I do this at the customer service center. It has been a game changer for both of us. I don't have to buy so much club soda and he drinks more water. Win - win!

SodaStream needs to do a better job if flagging on its website that have an option of purchasing one of two types of canisters depending on what type of pump you own. I mistakenly bought the wrong model and was not able to use the bubbles and had to drop them off at a local store that carries SodaStream products, time-consuming process that was totally unnecessary. Fortunately Sidastream sent me the correct model free of charge but imagine how costly this must be to the Company's bottom line!

I love my Soda Stream! It's saved me quite a bit of money, helped me kick the soda habit, and I don't have to bother with returning cans/bottles to my local redemption center!

Great Investment!

I was almost to the point of stopping the use of my SodaStream machine because of the efforts in finding the replacement cartridges. Then I actually used the website to order and am very well pleased. Cost was about the same and I did not suffer the same frustration of finding an outlet that actually had the full cartridges. Shipment was fast. Packaging was great and I was able to return empties for credit.

Efficient and Economical

I've been getting the 4-Pack of CO2 for a while, now. Four bottles last a good amount of time, so I don't have to get them often. However, on this last shipment, there was no return label. I've tried printing the label, but the screen shows "Sorry, the label is not yet available. " I'll contact the service people. In the past, they've been very responsive.

No return label

I don't think I use that much carbonation, but after 8 cylinders that never last me a month and I drink only 1-2 bottles of carbonated water per day. maybe my unit leaks? I have got a new unit this week. If the first cylinder only last a month, I will go back to buying bottled sparking water.

Only two of the bottles worked as expected. Third was not fully refilled and lasted half the time. The 4th is hardly filled at all and not usable at all.

50% lemons

You don't get your approx $20 deposit back on the empty CO₂ bottles now. It can only be used towards a refill, so when you eventually stop using SodaStream (which happens), you only get $1 back per bottle. Many people have a few or more bottles and expected to get $20-each deposit back, but SodaStream changed their policy, and didn't clearly notify customers. 

I wondered how much money that could add up to. I asked ChatGPT and it estimated: “SodaStream could make an estimated $230 million USD in one-time revenue from forfeited CO₂ canister deposits in the US and Canada under its new policy that no longer refunds the ~$20 deposit. This estimate assumes around 1 million customers in Canada and 5 million in the US who bought cylinders under the old policy, each with an average of 3 canisters on hand, of which 2 will never be returned. With a $20 non-refundable fee per cylinder, that's $40 lost per customer, totaling roughly $40 million CAD (~$30M USD) in Canada and $200 million USD in the US. This is a rough but reasonable estimate based on publicly visible customer behavior and SodaStream's own policy statements." 

ChatGPT quotes SodaStream's Canadian policy:
“$20.00 licensing fee is not refunded when used cylinders are returned.”
“If you find that you have accumulated more cylinders than you would like to exchange … you will be entitled to a return fee of $1 or local equivalent.”
“If you place a refill order directly through SodaStream and don't return your empty CO₂ cylinders within 30 to 60 days, you'll be charged an additional $15   tax per unreturned cylinder.”
This applies specifically to direct orders from SodaStream's website in Canada.

I don't know the exact numbers, but it shows why SodaStream might have made this change, and why it feels unfair to longtime customers. In my opinion, it borders on theft.

You don't get your $20 deposit back, anymore

Hard to tell if this was the one I needed until after It online and it was delivered then I realized it was the wrong one and I could not get my money back or get it exchanged
