I bought this soda system for my husband who loves club soda. He really likes it and uses it daily (2 years now). You can take the empties into Walmart and get a core credit so the canisters are cheaper than what you see on the shelf, I do this at the customer service center. It has been a game changer for both of us. I don't have to buy so much club soda and he drinks more water. Win - win!

bought the carbonator bottle for the Soda stream machine .  Very good product

Everything was good. Would like to see the return last longer. Two months is too short a time to complete using 2 cylinders. I've used soda stream ever since it came out many years ago. I exchanged the cylinder at stores but no longer possible where I live so must depend on mailing. This is the first time for mailing so hard to answer some questions below.

I don't know what's wrong with this "new "bottle that I received but it does not seem to have the right amount of pressure in it. Normally,I would use about 3 to 4 pumps… I have had to use at least six to get the same amount of fizz that I normally get. This is wasting my money. I am giving this a neutral grade because although it is working, it is not working as it should.

Are these old bottles?

I was almost to the point of stopping the use of my SodaStream machine because of the efforts in finding the replacement cartridges. Then I actually used the website to order and am very well pleased. Cost was about the same and I did not suffer the same frustration of finding an outlet that actually had the full cartridges. Shipment was fast. Packaging was great and I was able to return empties for credit.

Efficient and Economical

Exchanging the cylinders through the mail is extremely easy. The only complaint I have is that there is no communication about when they receive the cylinders back from you. I think it would be nice to receive a communication that the cylinders were received and that the exchange is complete.

Co2 Exchange

I wish this process would be easier in terms of store returns. Also, I find it very expensive. As context, I also reside in Germany, the service there is cheap and easy. I go to any of my grocery store and get cylinders for a fraction of the US cost retuned. No driving to a post office etc.

Review

You don't get your approx $20 deposit back on the empty CO₂ bottles now. It can only be used towards a refill, so when you eventually stop using SodaStream (which happens), you only get $1 back per bottle. Many people have a few or more bottles and expected to get $20-each deposit back, but SodaStream changed their policy, and didn't clearly notify customers. 

I wondered how much money that could add up to. I asked ChatGPT and it estimated: “SodaStream could make an estimated $230 million USD in one-time revenue from forfeited CO₂ canister deposits in the US and Canada under its new policy that no longer refunds the ~$20 deposit. This estimate assumes around 1 million customers in Canada and 5 million in the US who bought cylinders under the old policy, each with an average of 3 canisters on hand, of which 2 will never be returned. With a $20 non-refundable fee per cylinder, that's $40 lost per customer, totaling roughly $40 million CAD (~$30M USD) in Canada and $200 million USD in the US. This is a rough but reasonable estimate based on publicly visible customer behavior and SodaStream's own policy statements." 

ChatGPT quotes SodaStream's Canadian policy:
“$20.00 licensing fee is not refunded when used cylinders are returned.”
“If you find that you have accumulated more cylinders than you would like to exchange … you will be entitled to a return fee of $1 or local equivalent.”
“If you place a refill order directly through SodaStream and don't return your empty CO₂ cylinders within 30 to 60 days, you'll be charged an additional $15   tax per unreturned cylinder.”
This applies specifically to direct orders from SodaStream's website in Canada.

I don't know the exact numbers, but it shows why SodaStream might have made this change, and why it feels unfair to longtime customers. In my opinion, it borders on theft.

Hard to tell if this was the one I needed until after It online and it was delivered then I realized it was the wrong one and I could not get my money back or get it exchanged
