I bought the Alpha 7 ii to enter the world of full frame mirrorless, but still wanted to use my existing A mount lenses. Although I bought 3 differnt adapters the most annoying message is " Not with this lens " and as 90%
of my A mount lenses are Sony or Minolta, I do not understand why?
So I bit the bullet and bought a full frame E mount lens and the camera and lens came to life, and the learning curve has begun.
When I get it right the images are superb, tack sharp and vibrant colour, hense the 5 stars, it will be some time before I understand the full capability of the camera, the menus are very comprehensive and the user manual not very forthcoming.
In the interim I have found the art of using my A frame lenses as mostly manual, and this works as well.

From SLT to Mirrorless.

I've only recently jumped to Sony from Panasonic (Nikon before that) and only had my A7 for a few months before the A7 II was released but I'd already fallen for the A7 so I took the plunge. In all honesty I didn't have any issues with the build and setup of the original A7 but the A7 II really is a much more DSLR feel without the DSLR size and weight. Sony are clearly listening to their customers with small but much appreciated cosmetic changes. The BIG thing for me though is that headline 5-axis in body stabilisation but the new grip and shutter placement are welcome improvements.

I got my camera the day I was flying out on a holiday to Disney World in Florida so I knew I'd get the chance to try out the camera while having some fun and I can honestly say that this is a killer camera for anyone wanting a serious camera without the bulk. Even though I was still getting used to the Sony system and I'm also nothing more than an enthusiastic photographer and not a professional I was over the moon with some of my photos (attached). I've only had chance to play with JPEGs so far but I took RAW+JPEG so I'm looking forward to see how better they will be with some processing.

My advice to anyone who wants an all-round camera with the great image quality and ease of use without the bulk, buy this camera.

A great camera just gets better...

Brand new improved steady-shot ,back inside camera body where it should be.
Excellent AF system. Full Frame. Finder and LCD screen.Magnesium body,resistant to moisture etc.Improved hand grip.If unable, to achieve fine prints with this camera- Give Up.

A 5 star Sony camera

I've had the camera for a couple of months now and am thoroughly enjoying it.  It handles beautifully, with all the most needed things in just the right place and offers great customization with more than enough options/buttons.  Image quality is superb, especially in RAW, and I imagine it will be the only camera I will need from now on.  I spend a lot of time hill walking and whilst it is heavier than my previous compact, it doesn't have the bulk of a DSLR; build quality nonetheless feels reassuringly solid.  I bought a spare battery at the same time as the camera but haven't needed to use it yet.  I can't comment on other lenses, but the 24-70mm Zeiss that I got with it covers most of my needs and has a reasonably fast F4 max aperture across the full zoom range.  Having said that, I shoot quite a lot of stuff with a tripod to enable the use of smaller apertures anyway.  If you are a pro photographer, I could see the advantages of going higher up the range but for a hobbyist, this might be all the camera you will ever need.

Superb all-rounder

I bought the ILCE7M2 a few weeks back to replace an ageing NEX6 and I have to say, the jump in quality from APS-C to FF has been quite marked.

Shooting with mostly Canon FD glass that I've owned since new, I've been surprised at just how good the IBIS actually is. What's more, I'm able to use these excellent FF lenses on a FF sensor so am really able to squeeze every bit of quality out of them.

The build quality is excellent and in general it just feels solid to shoot with.

My first paid shoot with it was on Saturday in East London and i managed 380 shots on a battery with around 25% charge left so I'm quite happy with power usage - in the days of film, I'd shoot 3x 36 shot rolls in a day so i don't really understand what the complaints about battery longevity are - take a spare battery if you really need to shoot more than 400 shots in a day - or just plan your shots better! That said, I'll see what it's like when i hook it up to the dynamic perceptions MX3 and run a 5 hour time-lapse.

I'm actually going to purchase the 3 year warranty extension for this camera as i think it will last me that long.

Genuinely suprised and pleased with the performanc

This is a great camera, after mastering the menus and having had only dslrs before, I like the lightness but robust feel of it. The quality of photos and video are outstanding. I'm really enjoying getting to know my new camera, I read many reviews about different cameras before I made up my mind and I have no regrets at all.

My first full frame Sony - right choice

I bought this a month ago after getting fed up with humping a bag of lenses and a Nikon D700 around. I wanted something lighter and easier to travel with, but not sacrifice quality and handling. My local shop had mentioned the A7 in the past but I was a little put off with the handling and some other issues. A lot of my concerns have been dealt with in the A7 II, so I am very happy. I do have a couple of reservations, the battery life is still pretty poor, I carry at least two spares. There is no built in flip up flash, so if you want to use the wireless flash option, you need to use two flashes and the instruction manual is shocking for a camera of this quality and price.

Excellent alternative to a semi-pro level DSLR

I bough the camera two months ago and I love the handling of it and the superb picture quality. The features are good and the number of custom buttons is terrific. View finder is excellent and compares well with the optic viewfinder on my DSLR's. Still getting to know it but well worth the wait for 7m2.

Great Camera

This camera has surpassed my already very high expectations with the ease of using lovely old lenses on a full frame digital camera, it is about to open whole worlds for me. All of the reviews you may have read about poor battery life and slow focussing for action photography - forget it all, use manual focus it is so easy and so much better!

I used to use a Canon DSLR but became disillusioned with full size cameras as I found that the size and weight put me off taking the camera with me and therefore I wasn't taking picture.

The new generation of serious mirrorless DSLR cameras rekindled my interest in more serious photography.

I bought the camera about 3 weeks ago and I am very impressed, the feel and quality are impressive, as I would expect from Sony.

I love having a DSL that can also be used to make high quality video.

Returning to quality digital photography

I brought this camera year and half ago, I have taken a lot of beautiful pictures until new year's eve. I like the image quality of the photos I have taken. But I can't power on my camera suddenly without any damage at new year's eve. I am very disappointment. I did research from Internet and found some other people are suffered similar issue about their camera. 
I have four cameras now, two of them are made from Sony, I haven't any broken camera before. I didn't brought warranty because I trust Sony's quality before. 
I almost recommend  this camera to my friends, but now I couldn't now.
I hope Sony Inc. should concern the quality of the cameras. I hope Sony recall the cameras with similar issue. It's quality is not match the price of the camera.
