Sound Quality

My new Sony XAV-AX4000/Q was professionally installed yesterday. The installer was very impressed with the quality of the unit and included accessories. The steering wheel controls fuction with the adapter box. I like that it will show which door is open or ajar plus the tire pressure in each tire, excluding the spare. The vehicle is equipped with a SiriusXM antenna for the OEM stereo system but the installer could not get the antenna to work with the new Sony unit. I'm not a subscriber so it's not a deal breaker. In addition, the backup camera automatically activated when the vehicle is placed in reverse.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] overall great receiver pretty easy to install i like how the screen drops down and looks great in my car

great sony receiver

walmart.com

I thought it sounded amazing nice and clear no static.

Great features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great unit that fits in my 2005 Sequoia, android auto compatible.

Estefany

The sound system is so clear and crisp and smooth. The music is powerful and the camera interface is perfect. I can move around the various settings easily. It is a very intuitive interface and easy to understand and navigate.

Awesome radio & system!

I recently installed the Sony 7" Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Digital Media Receiver. While the interface and wireless connectivity are strong, the unit has two issues that noticeably affect everyday use.

FM radio reception is significantly weaker than expected. In an area with strong local stations, the receiver only scans two channels, and manually tuned stations sound unclear or static‑filled. My previous head unit had no trouble receiving these same stations, so the reduced FM sensitivity is specific to this model.

In addition, wireless CarPlay occasionally lags. The Best Buy technician confirmed this is a known behavior with this unit. The lag appears when switching apps, navigating, or interacting with the interface, and it disrupts the otherwise smooth CarPlay experience.

The receiver has great modern features, but FM performance and CarPlay responsiveness need improvement for this product to reach its full potential.

CarPlay Lag and FM Issues

Pretty much everything you'd want as far as features. But, not all features work as well as I'd like, I.e. the tuner is very weak. Also I would very much like to be able to arrange the icons on the home screen. Why would they not put the phone icon there? While driving I have to take my eyes off the road to search for the phone app. Very unsafe! Updates are very hard to accomplish.

Good features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was expecting more volume and sound. Was going to return but did not want to take my car all apart

The screen is washed out on sunny days when the sun is overhead. Hard to see during this time

but wireless carplay audio and rearview cam it has delay both of them
