[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a physical media collector (yes, we still exist lol) and I wanted a better Blu Ray player. I did some research on this one and it has the most features for a budget price point. Walmart.com had a deep discount on this player that no other retailer was offering. I was able to upgrade my viewing experience for a fair price.

I love dvds so much. I love them because of the bonus features, like the director commentaries. I don't understand how people can love a movie so much, then have no interest in learning about the production of the movie. Like Jaws, it was such a nightmare to make, they had so many problems. The whole back story makes me love movies even more! I love sitting in my own home watching my movies, especially now on upgraded technology. I especially love how I just plugged in the new dvd player to my TV, and off I went to watch my movie.

I looked around for a fair price player. Im happy I decided to go with this one. I have a decent collection of physical media even over seas copies. Haven't had any issues with playing them. This player is a great deal. The only thing I wish it has wireless wifi. Other than that I have no issues

Great Choice

This is actually my 2nd one. Bought the 1st one used from some dude off a market website and met him in the parking lot of a Walmart.  Paid $50 for it over the trunk of his beat up Mustang, and enjoyed the heck out of it until it crashed. I wasn't expecting it to last. While I think this Blu-Ray player is approaching the end of it's production days, it's still an awesome machine. It is one of the very few players that will play SACD through the HDMI output, at a reasonable cost. How cool is that? It'll run apps, but it's easier do all that through my TV. I guess it's a good feature if your TV doesn't access WIFI. The menu is a little clunky, and some of the more advanced settings (if you use them), may require a bit of research on how to set them for your specific needs. The X700 comes with a power cord and a remote. I believe the only difference between the X700 and the X700M, is the M comes with an HDMI cable. It works great with my Sony Bravia TV. It's small, unobtrusive (has no digital display screen on the front- only a small green LED indicating power on), and it's feature rich for it's price point- even more so if you find it on sale!

I love this player!

I would recommend this DVD player for the quality of the picture and ease of use, but care must be taken. Every DVD player I've purchased in the past 15 years has had WIFI connectivity, this one does not. If you want to access media files on your computer or the internet or download firmware updates, you should purchase the UBP-X700/K, not this UBP-X700/U. The description of this product on the Walmart Website fails to identify this critical difference.

Good, but be careful which model you select.

Fandango At Home app doesn't work at all, and the Youtube app just shows a black or green screen if you try to watch movies on it, however regular videos work fine. Looked it up and apparently these are just known issues with no fix on the way. The lack of apps is disappointing, otherwise it's a great player that works well for what it's made for.

So far it is very reliable and all the features work fine. The only problem is that this Blu-ray player is slightly out of date. Recent audio and video standards aren't available. But if you know what you are buying this is a great bargain at the low price.

Good for the price but features fall short

Playing a BluRay disk in the Sony X700 gave a very nice-looking picture on my 4K TV,  just a bit less than 4K quality.  But the X700 had inadequate WiFi for my needs, so I returned it.  It only had 2G WiFi, so I could not link it to my 5G WiFi, and therefore could not connect it to the internet.  I think the WiFi is probably an outdated design (the X700 was released in 2018).

I've had this player for some time and when it comes to playing new 4K disc it freezes during playback. Very frustrating!

Received the Sony DVD player, only to find out the remote does not work period. I even changed the batteries provided with new ones and still no luck. Myself a disabled veteran and recovering from back surgery, now have to go to a local Walmart to switch out the complete DVD system to replace the remote.
