The best sounding earbuds

The war buds feel very premium, are comfortable and sound great. That connect very quickly.

A few minor issues I noticed. The case seems to absorb dirt, although a case protector has fixed that issue. The option to cut the music when speech is hear is in theory excellent, but when the music suddenly stops because you start singing to your favourite track, you will probably disable it like I did. Finally I found with noise cancellation, ever step I took seemed to echo through my ear canal. It is very disconcerting at first!

Great

I brought my Sony WF-1000MX5  not so long ago though they are small they it me ears very well. they work very well right out of the box. The only concern I have is that when you have to update the software, because I a have an older Sony phone the Sony Experia L3, I encounter some problems, all apart from that I would recommend the headphones to any body interested in them. I'II look forward to the upgrade as well.

the options of different head phone buds

Nice!! Took a bit of a chance. having not tried these for fit, however, after sorting the sizing & setting up via the Sony Sound Connect app, I'm very pleased. Easy to connect, great sound (via the equaliser settings) & nice noise cancellation. Like the way you can set for adjustment when you want to have a conversation… means you don't have to remove the buds from your ears if you need to chat.

I bought these a few weeks ago as an upgrade to my WF-1000XM4s and boy am I glad I did!
Don't get me wrong my previous earbuds have served me well for a few years but the connection was getting unstable and I have had my eye on these for some time.
As a long-time Sony nut I always tend to go for their products but only if the reviews and specs stack up and these guys certainly do.
Out of the (minimalist) packaging they just look good and with a considerably smaller charging case than their predecessors nice for the pocket. Some people have complained about getting them out of the case but to me it was intuitive. Wireless charging and nice(r) aesthetics make it a pleasant experience.
Performance wise I am more than happy. I used to use the medium fit supplied with the WF-1000XM4 but have found the large actually work better with these and give a really good seal for noise cancelling.
Sony have introduced the great feature of swapping between Noise cancelling and Ambient mode with a tap of the earbuds, something I find massively useful when out and about so you don't need to remove the buds at all really as it works really well.
What would be good is a long press on the right to turn volume up and a long press on left for volume down for completeness for me.
The actual sound quality is as I would have expected, absolutely lovely! Deep bass, rich mid range and crisp highs. I use these with my current 5iv and the delivery is excellent, I can't wait for the performance when I upgrade to the 1 vii in the not too distant future. I am lucky enough t own the WH-1000XM5 headphones and have to say, whilst these can't match them for that complete soundscape experience, they do come really close. 
I do still suffer from some connectivity issues but this is probably down to the 5 iv as it is getting on a bit now but way more stable than my XM4s.
I want to add that the call quality has been massively improved with no complaints about echoing from the other end and the ease of use and confidence greatly upgraded.
I regularly use these whilst riding my bike and just like the XM4s the wind reduction is excellent along with the water repellent attributes.
I know I am biased but I struggle to think how these things could be improved at all, but that is a challenge for Sony to take on with the next generation.
All in all a cracking set of earbuds that are comfortable, effective, long lasting and sweet.
Buy some, you won't be disappointed.

The quality of sound is what I have come to expect from Sony, excellent. I have had difficulty in the past with other manufacturers ear bud staying in place but not these. The price for the pure clarity is very reasonable and charge length is very good.

FIrst let's start with the sound quality its amazing the best up to this point Ive ever heard or found in a market flooded with high priced low quality products. 
Second these ear buds are amazingly comfortable with usable a breeze and easy set. Third the Sony app is also very user friendly with great features for any lifestyle work or play. Well worth the price you pay

The best ear buds i ever owed

The first I wish to thank you Sony for fantastic earbuds. Absolutely stunning item. Quality of music it's extremely brilliantly amazing -top level. It works perfectly with my phone Sony Xperia 1 vii. Application sound connect helps completely to get everything what I need. I would like  to mention about noise cancelling option - definitely you are winning! Highly recommended!

Fantastic bombastic

Sounds quality is excellent. Clear and precise without overburdened bass (bass accurate, not pressed). 
None of the four tip sizes fit my ears well and buds never feel securely placed in the ear; only occasionally falling out. The controls, especially volume, are too complex. One, two, three or four taps do different things. These cannot be turned off or changed (I'd like the app to have functions to change the tap controls).
The buds and case are pleasingly lightweight.

Great sound, poor fit.

I am quite disappointed with the earbuds. I've read that they are an improvement to the previous ones, the best yet. Well, they aren't. I have the linkbuds S and they are better in every aspect: fitting, noise cancelling, comfort of using. I needed new earphones because after 2 years the battery in one of the earpieces died and didn't hold for more than 10 minutes. Which, I now read, is very common in Sony devices. 
The WF1000xm5 are big, bulky and they stick out of the ears a lot. They have these weird ear tips made of some kind of foam and they seem to fit, but don't feel secure in the ear. 
Also, an important thing for me, in the linkbuds I used the long press to change the volume, in the new ones I have to tap like crazy to change the volume and very often instead of that it changes song or stops the music etc. Nonsense. The long press now is for the virtual assistant, which I switched off straight away and won't use it, so why can't there be an option in the settings to change the long press for volume? 

I had to turn on the adaptive sound control and set all the options there to noise cancelling, because if I just turned it off and set the earbuds to noise cancelling it would turn off every time I put the earbuds in the case and then I had to open the app to turn the noise cancelling on when using them again. 
I also noticed that they sometimes don't hold the Bluetooth connection and the sound breaks. 

I would expect much better for this price, and I am just comparing it to the old Sony earbuds that this one is supposed to be an improvement to.

Sony, please stop "improving" stuff that doesn't need to be improved and concentrate on the things that need it, like the battery life. 

I regret not trying earphones from other brands instead. They were very expensive, I can't return them anymore and can't afford to buy different ones. I have a Sony phone so I thought Sony earbuds would work best with it, but it looks like just a mistake. 
After so many years of being a Sony fan and buying all Sony devices from TVs to phones etc, I think it's time to switch to different brands, because all of this is just a huge disappointment and not worth the money.

Quite disappointing

not satisfied with the product. in just 4 months my one side of my earbud stopped working and then they replaced that and with the new pair of earbuds same issue happened  after 11 months and by that time my buds were out of warranty so they couldn't help.
