Before I purchased this bed, I reviewed most of the commons. They said it was heavy and took a lot of time to assemble. The FedEx guy put the heavy package on my living room floor by his dolly. My son and I tried to move it to the bedroom and assemble it. We couldn't move that heavy package an inch. We tore off the package and move the parts piece by piece.
The instruction said "DON"T USE MACHINE." Trust me, you need an automatic screwdriver. We used a hand-tool and took 20 min for only one screw and it did not fit well. There were more than 25 screws. We went to Walmart and bought a $9.5 electric screwdriver. It saved a lot of time and strength to assemble the bed. The drawer is the tricky potion. You have to assemble the drawer and PUT IT IN before you put 4 "B" boards on the top.
It looks nice; however, the edge corners are pretty sharp. We put the corner protectors on two corners. The instruction is simple and easy to understand. The price is OK ,and the bed doesn't need a spring box. If you like doing a project, I recommend this bed.

Heavy bed with sharp edge

Came in a lot of parts but put it together in about an hour. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 Stars is because the is a little weak welters the drawer is. So far no problems, but I could see if someone jumped on it. It could break

The bed does look exactly as in the photo. Although the instructions show pictures there are no written directions and that is the first time I've seen instructions come without written direction. The box is a lot bigger than they said, about two and a half feet wide by about 7 to 7 and 1/2 ft tall. it is also quite heavy but that is expected. Towards the end of the bed set-up when you put the top on it has you put it on one piece at a time and screw it in then move to the next but I would recommend putting all four on then aligning them up perfectly then!! screw it down. When putting the top on there are no holes in the base so you have to make them that is why I recommend putting all four on before screwing down. I hope this helps

Helpful info

I like the look of the bed. Instructions were easy enough to follow. Some of the panels had slight damage on the ends. The bed was meant to have the head against a wall, so only one side of that head panel had the finish. I have to put the bed so a side is against the wall, so the unfinished particle board will be showing. The platform will be oversized for a full mattress but should fit perfectly for a queen size.

Good for the price

For a queen sized platform bed this item was very affordable on a budget for what it was. However, the bed requires a large degree of assembly. Some of the parts were very hard to do without an electronic screwdriver (which the instructions did not specify). The instructions were also very vague. They mainly relied on pictures where   text instructions would have been more helpful in some parts. The bed is assembled for me now thanks to some help tightening screws and a bruised hand from the pressure it took to tighten screws into wood that was not pre-drilled. The bed now creaks when I get on it which is a little concerning but has worked well so far. A good buy if you are willing to spend some solid time and effort on your part.

Affordable but difficult

Bed is nice and sturdy. A little lower to the floor than what it says. Pretty easy to assemble, love the color

On the plus side, it arrived very quickly; however, putting it together was difficult not only because of the multiple pieces but also because the quality of the materials is substandard and it made it more difficult to line up the holes and putting it together. In the end, it doesn't look like it will withstand a move. Should have gone to IKEA.

Should have gone to IKEA

The bed is HEAVY it is very nice looking! However it took forever to put together! We followed each step by step and there were places where the pre-drilled holes did not MATCH or Line up! Screws ended up going through the side of the bed and really messing it up. I highly suggest NEVER calling Southshore the actual company! We called them first and I could barely understand the lady and she INSISTED that We put the bed together wrong we put the "HARDWARE" (screws) in the wrong places and that was the reason why the platforms did NOT line up! REALLY I highly think that putting the wrong type screw in the base of the bed is what caused the platform top to not correctly line up and could only fit 16 screw in the top instead of the the 28 which were suppose to be there! Well thank goodness we called Wal-mart and they are sending a NEW bed and someone to come get the old one! It's nice but if you don't have the time or the help do not order this bed!

10 hour project!

The directions were very clear but the manufacturers did not place the holes in the correct spots. If this happens to you  you will need a power drill and some extra nails to screw the pieces in where they should go. If we weren't desperate for a bed in our new apartment, because we didn't want to sleep on the floor, we would have returned it immediately!
