Ideal for small rooms and compact spaces.

Can be straightforward, but also requires patience and time, with assembly times ranging from 2-4 hours.

Has a premium appearance with a solid build.

Can be clear and easy to follow, but may also be confusing or poorly written.

This is a decent dresser for the price but if you want a top quality piece of furniture, look elsewhere. You pay less than  $200 
but want $1000 quality, So stop complaining. This is pressboard construction and can break easily if not careful. 

For people complaining the directions are not detailed or they could not understand them? I say, stay away from a pencil sharpener. I put this together myself in about 2 hours. I used a screw driver, hammer, and Glue. It was not difficult in anyway. It does take some patience lining up the pieces. 

As far as the material, as I said it is pressboard and NOT hardwood so it will Crack and split if you are not careful. I used Gorilla Wood Glue in the construction. All of the pins, pieces and angles which came together were glued. I did not glob it on. The glue will keep the pieces together tighter and more secure. This will keep it tight and stop it from becoming lose over time. It definitely makes a difference and I highly recommend using Wood Glue. 

I highly recommend gluing the drawers as well. The drawers are what will eventually fall apart. I can see the bottoms falling out if not for the glue because people want to load 60lbs of their junk into one drawer.

The glue also keeps the dresser from wobbling. I added a mirror to mine. The second picture shows the Gorilla Glue dries and you cannot see it.

I recommend this dresser for this price.

Decent Dresser

i am in love with this dresser! i ordered it about a week ago, and it gave an estimated 2 week delivery. it came a week early! the box was bulky and heavy but my boyfriend and i managed to get it up to the apartment. the instructions said it was a 2 person build, but i did it myself in about 3 hours. (i was pretty lazy about it though, could have been done quicker if i wasnt playing around half the time) it was easy to assemble, i found the directions very clear, all the parts fit together nicely. i'm thrilled with the purchase!

I'm very pleased with the quality appearance of the SoHo 6Drawer Dresser. The dresser arrived just over a week after I ordered it, 1 full week earlier than promised. It was packed extremely well and even though the box was ripped here and banged there during shipping, the dresser parts remained in-tact and in new condition. The instructions are OK and make no mistake, this does not go together in an hour. I consider myself very handy and it took me 3 hours working by myself. South Shore does an excellent job with directions. They MUST be followed or you WILL have difficulties. Pay special attention to the hardware, screws especially, that you are grabbing to ensure you have the correct ones. Look closely at the illustrations. There is a little more to a SoHo assembly that other furniture makers but that little bit more gives you a better quality and more stable product that some other boxed furniture makers.
Once assembled the function and fit is very good. I would definitely recommend this to anyone working within a budget.

A Great First Dresser

Very nice dresser once assembled with a good amount of space for clothes.  All pieces are well labeled, you just have to put everything together with a screw driver and hammer. The instruction manual is mostly pictures with step by step guides. It is a nice dresser to compliment a room.

Great Dresser To Purchase

...if you take ONE thing from this review, please take this: USE AN ELECTRIC DRILL/SCREWDRIVER!

Although the directions specifically state not to use a drill, I can promise you that if you attempt to put this set together without one...you will end up cursing up a storm and with your dominant hand in INTENSE pain.

ALL of the screws are Philips Heads...meaning they are impossible to tighten, as Philips Head generally are. Additionally, many of the pre-drilled holes are NOT the right size for the screw. Without an electric drill/screwdriver, you will find it impossible to tighten them enough to be secure. Further. there are several places that holes are NOT pre-drilled, yet you are must place a screw there anyway.

I'm generally happy with the product...but was absolute exhausted after putting the entire set of 6 pieces together. I attempted the first without a drill, and nearly drove myself mad. It took me the entire day to complete the other 5 pieces, with a drill.

Generally favorable, however...

I am actually pleased with this dresser. It did take me well over a day (with many breaks and sleep) to put together. In my opinion, the time it takes to put something together shouldn't be a factor. It's nice that in the end, it's worth it. The drawers are a little crooked. Only I could tell because I put it together. However, I believe I'm to blame because I used the wrong screws. Just be careful and realize that the screws that are in the little baggies aren't for the rollers. The screws for the outer side of the drawers are mixed in with the handles. Also, I'd be more satisfied if the bottoms of the drawers were sturdier, but really.. that's my ONLY complaint that isn't my own doing. I got the 5 drawer dresser as well and it was SUCH a breeze to put together because I knew what I was doing the 2nd time around. I would absolutely (at this point) recommend it. I've only had it for a few days though, so only time will tell. I do absolutely love the look though.

You get what you pay for...

This is a nice dresser for the price. It feels heavier and more solid than most inexpensive dressers, and it doesn't look look cheap like most. I put this together by myself and I am definately not experienced at assembling furniture. The instructions are easy but there are lots of pieces and hardware to assemble and it took me 3 hours to complete. The only thing I am unsure of, is that the hardware that the drawers slide in and out on is made of plastic and Im not sure how well that will hold up. Overall I am happy with it.

I was hesitant to buy this dresser after reading the reviews but so glad that I did! This is a very sturdy, well made, beautiful dresser and is exactly what I was looking for to put in our guest bedroom. The drawers are nice

Reviews almost scared me away. Buy it!!

this took me several evenings to put together. as suggested i did not use any power tools. from what i can see i just don't have the strength in my hands to make things as tight as they should have been, because the entire thing is either too tight or loose, depending on the drawer.
at first glance it looks okay (one drawer is way off center from the others - photo attached). regardless, i'm going to use it since i won't give up on all the work i've done to get this thing together, alone.
it goes to show you: you get what you pay for. not one solid piece of wood. all particle board, a lot of screws, nails, bits and plastic pieces to put this thing together.

When they box arrived, it seemed fine. After my husband had already spent an hour starting the assembly (it's supposed to take 90 mins , it took almost 3 hours) we noticed 2 chips on the top and 2 on the sides.  Then we had to glue 2 pieces of veneer back on. The over all quality of this dresser was very poor. I wanted to pack it all back and take back to the store, but my husband had already spent hours putting it together, also this was a gift for my soon to be born granddaughter's nursery. We didn't have time to replace it , so we spent more money repairing and trying to make it presentable. I would not buy this product or anything else again from this company! Very dissatisfied!!!
