In-hand Feel

We haven't had it too long but it seems to be a great quality indoor/outdoor ball. Great feel, holds air well. Weighed only slightly less than a cheaper Spalding junior ball we got but for some reason it feels noticeably lighter. I hope to find the "regular weight" junior ball in the same quality for my older son.

Great indoor/outdoor ball

Ordered online and came when specified. My fault did not read description but was small for my Granddaughter, overall excellent product, great price and she is having a blast playing basketball.

I bought this for my daughter for a gift since she was trying out for our Rec Basketball team and made it! She was sooo excited and this mama loved the price and knowing I am purchasing equipment that is great for her to learn the game and ball handling skills. Has a great feel and she is able to hold it well for her size (shes small). Great product and will be a repeat customer!

Happy Daughter! Great gift

spalding.com

She loves it. It bounces well. the colors are vibrant.

My kids love it! Great for kids under 8 years old.

My 7 year old son uses it for basketball camp and loves it!

Great basketball!

Perfect ball for my eight year old grandson. He liked the color pattern and the youth size is the right ball for him to learn the game. Also has a nice feel to it.

A Big Score!

I have to say that I am frustrated with your company right now. The Rookie Gear ball is the official basketball of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association's (NWBA) Junior Prep Division for youth 5 - 12 years old with a primary physical disability. Not sure why you changed the materials of the Rookie Gear Composite Cover Basketball (SPA0090). Losing that 10% of weight is immense for the youth that I coach and those others in our NWBA Jr Prep Division. It might not seem like much to a non-coach, but it truly is. I would rather pay more for the same ball than to see cheaper materials being used. It may affect our organizations use of the Rookie Gear ball as now the weight difference. Research was even completed by a member of our Hall of Fame; Dr. Robert Szyman with data showing the success of implementation of your basketball's use for our youngest athletes. I just received ten basketballs from our distributor (they sent me the rubber SPA0091, and I am wondering if it is worth getting the SPA0090 in exchange). Please go back to the original materials of the Rookie Gear Ball.

Why the change in materials?

Spalding NBA Rookie Gear® Composite Basketball youth Size 5 27.5" front-facing multicolour indoor-outdoor ball with yellow panel showing black Spalding logo, red panel with Rookie Gear emblem, green and blue lower panels, pebble-textured composite cover and standard grooves; 15% lighter to help develop handles, shipped inflated and game-ready; often used for youth skill drills and travel practice.
