The Prime Bucktail Jig is not like any other jig on the market. The unique shape of the head and placement of the eyelet help bring this lure to life. With bulging eyes, holographic finish, and blazing color, it puts fish at your mercy. The uniqueness of this bait is that it doesn?t fall or hang straight down like other bucktails. It glides through the water, almost swimming along. When jigged, its body stays almost parallel to the bottom maintaining a very natural appearance. Like all SPRO products, Prime Bucktail Jigs are made with durable, super sharp Gamakatsu hooks. Once you fish it, you?ll know why SPRO is the shape of things to come. It?s hard to fish the Prime Bucktail wrong. It can be jigged off the bottom for weakfish, fluke, or other saltwater fish. Cast it at schooling fish working it quickly back to the boat for cobia, stripers, snook, or dolphin. Swim it along in freshwater for big bass and walleyes, or troll it for reservoir stripers. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love these jigs. They are good r mist of the fish species on the northeast coast but they are absolutely deadly on fluke (southern flounder) and I make sure to keep them on hand during the season.

A few of my favorite things!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good bucktail for flounder fishing.  sharp hooks.  I use this 1oz in around 8-15 ft of water around bridge structure vertical jigging flounder.

Good flounder bucktail

The bucktail is well known as one of the most productive lures in the surf and these by SPRO are my favorite. Purchase the 3/4 or 1oz. for most shallow conditions. The two colors I would recommend are white and chartreuse yellow. You can tip with Otter Tail trailers or Gulp! 4" Swimming Mullet. The goal is to swim the jig along the bottom. Give a few cranks and then it's a slow to moderate retrieve.

Most productive

Great lure. Came highly recommended for Spanish Mackeral here in the Gulf of Mexico. Real quality.

Good color

Their ad provides neither the jig weight, junk nor the hook size - both absolute requirements for any serious fisherman.  For that reason alone, I would never buy anything sold by this company
