I bought a 10-pack of these Staedtler %232 HB pencils from Walmart expecting a decent, standard pencil, but they are terrible. Writing just a few paragraphs caused noticeable arm and wrist strain because the lead is bizarrely soft and heavy, feeling more like a waxy crayon dragging across the paper than crisp graphite. It's also impossible to keep a fine point—the tip snaps off immediately the moment it touches the page. To make matters worse, sharpening them feels "moist" and rubbery instead of giving you that dry, satisfying wooden crack. If you're looking for a classic, firm, real-wood pencil experience, skip these entirely.

Soft, Waxy, and Feels Like Writing with a Crayon

The most useless pencils. Can barely see what you write, they break so easily, can't sharpen to a point. Don't bother getting them. I'm surprise they have such a high rating on here.

Bought it to use on navigational charts. Barely visible and difficult to erase. Breaks off easily, too. Can't be sharpened to a fine point.
