I'm still not sure I'm using it right but it's a nifty toy that I kind of get an idea if my grease is hot enough to put my chicken in to fry. I will state it is unwise to get your hand to close to the grease as it popped and I got a bad burn. However reading the instructions is recommended as it tells you the distance to be away from what your measuring .

it works very good, but there is a problem putting the battery in, the direction i received did not clearly show where the battery goes. I found it goes in the front handle the black part where the trigger is located you have to start at the bottom of the handle and gently pry the cover out of the handle. After battery is in snap the handle back on

Product was defective, I had to return it. If the replacement works I will reevaluate.
