Balance

This is my new go to hammer for framing. The shock resistance is incredible! Mine is plastic coated . I've used it to build chicken coops to remodeling our kitchen. It's been left outside(accidentally for 3 days in the snow and rain) and it didn't complain. I have put this tool through the ringer and as you can see it still looks great! The mill face is still solid. I love this hammer! Go Stanley!

Only hammer I will ever need

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been a carpenter for over 40 years and have seen many ideas, iterations and improvements over the years. At times I wonder who designs some products and are they thoroughly field tested and reviewed prior to production. The Stanley framing hammers fall into this category. I have used both the 22 oz and 17 oz framing hammers. I really like the swing and balance of the 22 oz hammer, however the claws are far too short and poorly designed to effectively remove nails. The prongs are too thick also to efficiently rip when needed. The 17 oz version, although lighter in weight is not balanced as well for driving nails. It is clubby and simply doesn't swing as well.  Again the forks need redesigning.  Perhaps a critical look at Estwing framing hammers would be a good start.  Those forks are far better for nail pulling and ripping.  I have actually framed with my Stanley framing hammer with a different brand nearby in the event of having to pull nails. Not a great endorsement for the design group
