The hinge is easier to adjust than similar products, the trick to loosening the tension is to tap the allen wrench with a hammer. Each tap will back one tension setting.

Similar products make use of a pin, that once cut is difficult/impossible to adjust the tension.

Manufacturer could have done a much better job with installation instructions to remedy the obvious problem everyone is having with releasing tension on the spring. I also couldn't figure it out. It took coming here and seeing another reviewers comments to tap the allen wrench with a hammer. I tried that and it immediately loosened and became super easy to manage after that.

Good hinge, bad instructions

Easy to install. Easy to tighten. Difficult/impossible to loosen. Instructions simply don't help. I cannot press and turn counter clockwise.  Maybe superman could. Unlike other models, this does not have pin to remove.

Can't loosen, otherwise ok

It works, but hard to figure out how to adjust tension.  Please stop using AI and listen to what your customers are asking in their questions.  Also- consider adding instructions someplace; on line or at least in the package. 
What I determined- To release spring tension- insert allen wrench into the pin & apply downward pressure while also turning the pin clockwise, ever so slightly.  The wrench & pin will drop down a little more and, while still holding the wrench tightly, you can turn the pin counter clockwise to release tension. When you hit the next "stop", repeat the process.  Keep doing this until all the tension has been removed. 
Why are there no instructions posted anywhere on line or at least included in the blister package?  Every first time user of this product is having problems trying to properly install & work with your product.  Get it together.  The product itself is not too bad.

how to release spring tension

Very difficult to open. Saw a review to hit the wrench with a hammer to release each click of the spring going counterclockwise!
Hinges are too tight to have the door close easily. Door swings shut but won't latch! Hopefully as the door gets used it will latch easily.

Not great

After damaging my door finish and the hinge finish.... that other post is accurate. Put the hex key in so that it drops into the adjustment range then crank a little as if you wanted more tension while simultaneously pushing down even more and the hex will now release in the counter clockwise direction. Required tapping with a hammer the first time and it snapped with some good force. 
By the way, no amount of lubricant helps with the spring tension sound. 
I will be on the lookout to stay away from this company!

Tension release

Please revise directions for us beginners on step 1…..how to unlock hinge for installation: using Allen wrench, insert into hinge (at top) and tap with hammer until it unlocks. That would have saved me a good 20 minutes 🙄

Absolute garbage (N185-207). If I could give a zero or negative star I certainly would. Ended up throwing all three (3) in the trash and went bought regular hinges, different manufacture with a commercial door closer.  Install on commercial building, interior fire rated door.
PROS: Looks good and easily installs. 
NEGATIVE: Will not, can not, impossible to loosen. Instructions say to press down and turn counterclockwise with the provided key. When you try to press and turn it wants to turn clockwise, which creates more tension and  instructions say  no more than six (6) clicks clockwise. 
What happened to the quality manufactures and materials we use to have? Where are the models with the pin, which was such a breeze to adjust. The old hinges lasted nearly 50 years.
