I have been using the docking station for about 3 weeks. tried both the e-sata connection and the USB3 cable. I using the device as a storage point for system backup. The read write speed is nearly twice the speed for the usb3 is nearly twice the spe3ed of the e-sata connection. I have not experienced issues with the HDD failing to register with the OS. the docking station has been highly reliable.

I bought this HDD docking station a few days ago and I am reasonably satisfied with it. The build quality is OK (not great, but not bad either) and the docking station is fairly easy to operate.

Here are some extra information regarding the connectivity of the HDD docking station Startech has failed to provide:

- When connected the HDD docking station through E-SATA with both drive bays populated, only the disk in bay 2 is visible/accessible. 

- When connected the HDD docking station through E-SATA and USB 3.0 with both drive bays populated, only the disk in bay 2 is visible/accessible. 

Basically when you connect this HDD docking station through E-SATA, only 1 drive at the time is visible/accessible (probably due to E-SATA limitations)
