This works great with the Singer PSW on computer with Windows 7. Plug in and it was ready.

Easy to Install and worked great. If just passing data from another serial device without a physical port (ie automobile Diagnostic plug ALDL) then port must be configured as loopback. Pins 1,4,6 shorted together at serial plug and pins 7,8 shorted with data on pin 2 and Ground on pin 5.

I ordered and used this adapter cable with a Windows 7 laptop. I plugged it in and used it immediately, it worked great.

Worked Well

Unlike other adapters that work for some target devices and PCs and not others, this one works for everything RS232<->USB.  BUT, must be smart enough to install the drivers first (not plug&play), and look in Device Manager to see what port was assigned, or assign a different port.  The nice thing is that it remembers that port for next time, so you are not chasing ports each time it is plugged in - provided that the port selected remains free on the host PC.

I was unable to upgrade firmware and/or control my iOptron mount with the KeySpan Tripp-Lite USB to Serial cable. It was suggested by iOptron that I get the FIDI cable instead. A member of our Astronomy club recommended Startech.....and the rest is history. I would not hesitate using this company for additional needs.

Worked Flawlessly

This does work great with Singer PSW. It is plug and play up to Windows 10. No need to install the software on disk, just plug in and it works great. I think it is even faster than my old cable I had before. East to use and I highly recommend.

•USB to Straight-Through RS232 Serial Adapter

This unit is the second part of my interfacing and using 22year old amateur equipment in the Windows 10 environment. Works great for radio frequency interference limiting on amateur radio.

Good quality build.  Works as advertised.  Contains real  FTDI USB to Serial RS232 chip.  These are the best chips to use for this purpose.  They are recognized automatically by Win10 and latest Mac OSs.

Good Product, Fair Price

Works like a true serial port without an usage problems. There is 1 problem, if the device is unplugged from the PC before the PC is powered down, when the PC is powered down it will come up with windows blue screen. There is no problem if the PC is powered down and the device is removed after shutdown.
