I was going to spend more and buy a digital scale but decided to give this a try and I'm so happy I did! Works perfectly, looks nice, and I don't have to worry about batteries or the thing breaking... as all computerized this tend to break and/or stop working properly a lot sooner than good old-fashioned things, in my opinion. At least that's been my experience.

So for people who say it doesn't weigh accurately or the needle moves forward... you just have to balance it which is very easy to do (this works on bathroom analogue scales too): 

1. Just press down on the scale with your hand and then lift up. The dial should level out to zero. 

2. If it doesn't, use the turn wheel, which in this case is the little rubber thing located underneath the plate. Turn it to zero while it's resting. Test it again to ensure it is at the right place.

3. To make sure that the scale is weighing things accurately, take a package of something out of your cupboard that you haven't opened yet. I used a 2 pound bag of rice. Place it on the scale and see if what the scale says it weighs matches the weight on the package. When I did this, it weighed the rice perfectly.

Lastly, be realistic. This is an analogue scale so if, for example, you want to cook EXACTLY 2oz of rice, this is not going to tell you that you have 2.01 oz like a digital scale would. If you need to be so precise that having an extra couple grains of rice is going to blow your diet or ruin your recipe, a digital scale will probably better suit your needs. And I say "probably" because even digital scales aren't always 100% accurate... which is why I settled on this one when I was making my choice.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I use this every week to scale my coscto meat purchase.  i use a plate to keep the scale clean.  The dial is easy to read and works very well.
