Great focus/ optics/ build

I own both a set of Steiner Safari's and Zeiss Victory FL's. I just received my Steiner Wildlife XP's and I would put them in the same class as the Zeiss Victory's. They both utilize flouride glass lenses and produce bright, sharp and clear images. I was able to acquire them at below MSRP cost which I think makes them an exceptional value for the quality of binocular. If you are in the market for a high performing binocular at a more affordable price point than the Zeiss' and the Leica's I would strongly recommend these.

Spectacular Quality and value

Impressive close up clarity. I like the gel pads on the thumb pads and light weight, but I like the overall package of my older Commander 7x50 better. The eye pieces are not as comfortable as my set of Commanders. On the zoom wheel, I would have thought the stop would have been the setting for infinite focus, but not the case... I had to max the individual diopters to get infinite zoom close to the stop for quick long distance focus. The strap is very nice. The case is way too big, flimsy, and not impressive. The best feature is the view up close. I wish I could have compared these to the new Commander 7x50, but couldn't find a store to have both without buying both (non returnable) pairs. Overall, I love my older Commander V 7x50, bought the Wildlife XP 8x44 for the increased FOV, and like the Wildlife XP... Just not as impressed.

Good set of binoculars

I bought these only 20 days ago. The optics are great - no question. Great sharpness, great color fidelity, no fringing. fantastic light gathering. However, like another reviewer wrote in their review of the 10x44 model of the Windlife XP, the eyepiece has a design flaw. Mine, I need fully extended for the full 20 mm eye relief. However, after just one retraction, the right eyepiece now always comes back with the rubber eyecup facing  INWARD see photo). No matter how gently you try to repeat the process, the result is always the same. Since the eyecups are fixed to the eyepiece, they cannot be turned or re=positioned independently, either. I could fold the eyecups down, but that totally defeats their purpose. I am NOT happy.
