I just want to brag a little. I've had the #1088 trash can since 2007. And it looks very close to when I bought it all those years ago...mine is the beige colored one. And it is in perfect working order. The lid still swings perfectly. Just wanted to hand you a thank you this morning. It is an awesome product and I have 10 years experience with one to prove it!

I would recommend this trash basket. It is durable and heavy duty. It's great that is heavy duty because the trash won't smell as bad and lasts a long time. I would highly recommend!

A great trash basket

I have this wastebasket in my craft room and I love it. The swing top works like a charm from either side. It is very easy to clean, which comes in very handy because I use a lot of adhesives and glues. The only thing I can think of that would make this better is a larger choice of colors.

Perfect Solution

Its a good trash can. But we noticed when we added the trash bag there was a big air pockit in the can. So i drilled a hole in the can 3 inchs from the top center of can. It works perfect now. Please do this for it to work. Thanks.

13.2 trash can

I purchased the swing top can with the thought of using it for recycling. I loved that the lid had extra space in it. My thought process was that I could fit extra bottles and cans in it. The thing that I liked most is also the thing that I don't like ... the swing top. I did not think it through that the lid had to have room to swing open. This was my mistake

Overall, though, the can has a clean appearance and is a good size for the kitchen.

Pros and Cons to Swing Top

Sterilite

I bought this can to replace my 25 year+ old plastic kitchen can. I liked the top, the ease at which it could be cleaned.

However what I did not expect was that the box of 13 gallon bags with about about 50 bags left is useless. Also several small count bags of different brands also do NOT fit. What good is any trash can if you cannot find bags to fit. 
Note:
I also bought a Hefty Touch-Lid 13 gallon and I can't find bags to fit it either.
WHAT KIND OF BAGS WILL PROPERLY FIT THIS CAN?! I prefer the drawstring kind but open to any at this point.

Bags don't fit

Like some of the other reviews, we have tried just about every brand of bag there is and the bands and or seams all rip in trying to secure the bag.

I too drilled holes in the product to allow trash to go into the can without ballooning.

The can cannot sit flush against a wall without the back of the lid scraping and hanging up on the wall.

Poor Design

The lid on this garbage can is designed so that when it swivels the lid dips below the rim of the can itself. I've had tons of problems with a) the can only being about 3/4 full, but not being able to fit any more in it and b) the lid coming in contact with whatever may be on the top of the trash at the time

Poorly Designed

OMG Do NOT buy this trash can. It is as worthless as the trash you are going to throw in it. The lid is poorly designed and practically non-functional. It sits up against a wall so everytime I throw trash away, the back of the swinging lid gets caught on the wall. I live in an apartment so there's nowhere for it to sit that isn't against a wall unless I put it in the middle of the living room. Yeah, not going to happen. Also, don't be fooled by the large lid. Once the can is about 2/3 full, the front of the swinging lid gets stuck on the trash inside the can. It doesn't go in all the way, and it's touching nasty trash. And you're putting your hand on the nasty trash-touching lid when you throw away your garbage. I end up having to just take the lid off. A total waste of money.

just awful

I have a sterilite swing top wastebasket, 13.2Gal./50L Base G. I have bought every name and no name brands for the standard 13 gal bags to fit this and none of them fit. Everytime I put a bag in it rips in the seams and splits the bags! They do not stretch over the wastebasket rim and so the bags RIP!

standard 13 gallon bags do not FIT!
