[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The  SunJoe log splitter is a great value in my opinion.  I was able to easily split 8" to 10"
ash rounds.  It is powerful enough to split larger logs but at 78 years of age I'm not looking for a challenge.  As other reviewers have noted, the transport wheels are small but I used it in my
driveway and they were fine.  I quickly discovered short strokes worked best and that made this splitter easy to use.  For less than $250.00 I am more than satisfied.

Great gift!

Love it, the only thing that I have say is the plug is so hard to get out and put back, thought I would tear it taking it out and had to push the side of the plug in with a scew driver and then put a thick piece of wood on top and use a hammer to get it back in. Would like to get a few more plugs in chase I need to replace after taking it out to refill.  I'm a 70 years old lady and I have split cherry oak and other kinds of hard wood with it and had no trouble doing so. can't say enough about how great it works for me.

I have (had) a moderate number of large logs in my yard from dead trees that had been take down. With this log splitter, I've been able to convert them into firewood. This product isn't for anyone who wants to split logs as fast as possible or doesn't want to put any physical effort into it. I'm in no hurry, and I don't mind a little upper body exercise (I'm 60). Over a few weekends in the last couple of months, I've been able to turn dozens of logs into firewood. I've split close to a face cord so far.
Note, this log splitter will split logs MUCH larger than its 6.5 inch specifications would indicate. I'm including a picture of a typical sized log that I've split (about 16 inches in diameter. It takes several passes of splitting the log into smaller and smaller pieces, but I was able to split the log in this picture in less than 10 minutes into about 8 small pieces.
A great product, I highly recommend it.

Great alternative to expensive powered splitters

Works as stated.   It is fine for lengths of logs stated but if you are splitting logs 1/2 the size you will need boards or something to stick between the log and the ram due to the short stroke. One thing that I found is, the left handle is for longer strokes and the right handle is for shorter strokes.  Other than that, I am happy with it and works great.

Does what it is supposed to do

Splits logs really well.    Only problem is that the logs need to be of a certain length.  It's the usual length but I got a load of wood that was shorter.   I took some hardwook and put it between the short wood and the splitter and it worked like a breeze

Great splitter

Product works as advertised.  Split some very knotty, big maple pieces.  Have a few issues.  Instructions on oil adding procedure not very good in the instruction manual.  Wasted oil trying to pour down the small filler hole. The rubber oil plug needs to be upgraded to a larger metal plug that screws in.

it works pretty good, Make sure the butt end of your log is cut off flush or the ram try's to move one way or the other this tends to bend the strap that guides the ram, The strap is weak but works just make sure the log is cut off flush I cannot stress this enough.

Log splitter

From all the YouTube demos and reviews this looked to be a great tool, especially as an older person.  The hydraulic action is two speed - left handle (or both) for fastest travel of hydraulic piston and the right handle for small steps in applying the 10 tons of pressure to split a log (up to 12" or better in practice).  It all worked perfectly for three days and then the seal gave way.  Looks like a bad design for the angular loads on the hydraulic piston pushing against uneven surfaces of wood.  A further review of YouTube experiences revealed that others have had the same problem.  The seal gives way too soon.  Only apparent fix appears to be to place a hard wood block or a flat surfaced stone between the log and the hydraulic piston in order to reduce side loads on the piston.  Other than the seal problem this is a must have tool for the real fireplace enthusiast.

Great idea poor execution

Only used it when we had logs too large for our wood burner, maybe 20-30 logs a year.  Tonight, tried to split a log and the ram head broke off from the steel rod.  Not sure if there's any way to fix it.
