[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me start with the negatives. Really, I only found two and one of them isn't really a negative.  First, they do not include a wall adapter. Seeing as how it uses a USB similar to a cell phone or a million other things not to mention a lot of boxes now include power strips that have USB ports it's jot really a big deal.  Iust feel like it should be included just in case it's needed and I cant imagine it would raise the cost significantly. The second issue I found is the foam pads on the end clamps. They are self adhesive 3M foam strips. They function great but i am concerned with them losing their stickiness and falling off. They do include replacements with the light so even if they dog all of it's not too much of an issue.  I almost wish there was some sort of a foam that could be molded into the clamp but I'm not an engineer so maybe there is reason that is not done (plus the fact of contaminated it could not be replaced as these can).

Positives: Well there is not a whole to say there. This light works great, plenty of light. The power button has a good tactile feel.  I have ran it now a few times and my longest without charging was just about 6 hours on high. The battery was needing recharge but the light did not shut off.  I haven't ran it on the low setting too much because I was trying to kill the battery. I will say the low setting is plenty of light for most circumstances but I wanted to get a run time on high.  There is a nice power level gauge utilizing 4 LEDs on the side and the charging port has a rubber molded plug to prevent contamination during use.  Overall I would highly recommend this light based on runtime, physical quality, and good clamping pressure when mounted on a hood.  While I have a concer about the foam pads I feel they will last quite a while and even if need additional ones they are easily cut from a foam sheet.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently got this underhood light because of its great features and excellent value.  I already  enjoy it because it is cordless and rechargeable.  I have an old corded underhood light that had hooks which was inconvenient and also the cord would get in the way.  The cordless design is invaluable because you can take it anywhere even without available electricity.   A day after receiving this light the house lost power.  Luckily I had this charged and it illuminated the dark living room very well.  The light feels sturdy and well built.  The ends that grab the hood have padding in it and it even included a spare pad which indicates that this light is built to last a long time.  The light is able to go about half illumination with a push of the button.  There is a charge life indicator too. The ends do swivel so you can direct the light better.  Overall this is a great product.  You can never have too many lights.

Sunex underhood light 1000 lumens

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had been wanting an under hood light for a while. This one is just what I wanted. Very bright cordless led light with a usb charging cord. It hooks on the hood and is adjustable for different widths. This is now my go to work light.

A really nice under hood light

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this underhood light for about 2 weeks, and have been using it daily in a busy professional shop. Also worth mentioning, I'm STILL running on the initial charge!! AMAZING battery life, super bright! Light has a high and low setting. Grips very well to virtually any hood. The included charging cable is a usb "c" that is 8ft long. Light has a charge indicator/meter near the on/off switch. This product is by far the best underhood light ever to be on the market, if you're thinking about making the purchase, trust me, you WILL NOT be disappointed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] An underhood light is something I had on my wishlist for a long time but I kept on buying other tools... I am so glad I finally got one. My garage is small and even though I have plenty of neon lights, I still had to use flashlights when working in the engine bay. 

The photos I took were outside, in my driveway simply because I could not take good pictures in my garage and they don't do justice to the amount of light this gives.

The light has two levels and the high level really illuminates the whole engine bay. It has soft pads on both sides to not damage the paint  (and it came with an extra one in the box).

Also included in the package is a long (9.8 ft) USB-C cable which makes it easy to recharge from almost anywhere in my garage. It did not come with a charger, but I had many USB chargers laying around, so it was not a drawback for me.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who has struggled with getting good illumination when working on their cars. While it will not replace a task light that can be focused on a very specific area, this provides great help.

It comes with a one year warranty, which is always good.

Great features - should have gotten one years ago!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Frankly I'm blown away at how great this under hood light is. The LED's in this light are perfect, they cast almost zero shadow when your working under the light. Very cool to work with new LED's that do little to no casting, if you don't understand what I'm talking about you will the first time you use this. Extremely bright, and throws light perfectly everywhere inside of the engine bay. I decided to place the light on my BMW since it had the largest engine bay of my cars. The light had no problems covering the entire engine bay. The light lasts hours and hours on end, i used it for 4 hours and it was still in the green on the battery life. Only con on this light is the hooks that are used to hold onto the hood can be a little awkward and take some time to adjust to get the light just perfect for your car. Really a small hassle for how great this light is. 
I plan on purchasing a few more of these as my father was jealous, my mechanic friends all want one as well. Excited to have another great Sunex tool in my garage!

Fantastic Work Light

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have you ever accidentally looked into the sun, well if you haven't this is the equivalent it is so bright it lights up everything in the engine bay with no need for extra lights. The pictures do not do it justice. This light has 2 settings high and low and let me tell you high is very bright. it has a battery gauge that illuminates when you press the power button and when charges. The light comes standard with USB C plug and with a USB C charging cable in the box. the hooks are cushioned and they come with an extra set of cushions in the box. The light is extendable and it rotates so you can adjust the light to any direction that you need. Overall this light is amazing it puts out a lot of light and the battery lasts a long time. Great job sunex tools this light is amazing.

The Sun On A Stick!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Sunex underhood light has a lot to like about it. It generates a ton of light in a stylish package - that should also hold up in a garage setting. The batteries and switch are housed in rubber-encased area that has a non-slip texture and won't ding the paint of your vehicle. The switch button has nice, intuitive feel that cycles between the 3 settings (high, low, off) with each press. High outputs enough light that I could easily work with no other sources of light from the top of the car, while the low setting acts as a nice boost while extending the battery life.

There's an integrated battery meter in the form of a series of LED's like you'd find on many power tool brands. The unit is rechargeable and has integrated batteries, so nothing external to manage. Charging is through a USB-C port on the side of the unit, with a solid rubber dust cover to keep it clear of debris when in use. It comes with a 10 ft charging cable that seems to be pretty good quality, but you can always pick up your own if you ever needed to replace it.

The hooks are probably the best feature. They are plastic on the outside, but have a replaceable foam padding (and it arrives with an extra set) that will keep you from scratching the paint like some cheaper models. Both hooks rotate 360 degrees so you can mount at whatever rotation angle you need. The extension is ~20" with a nice auto-retraction feel. Overall length is ~65" max, so it should work for any hood application.

The underhood light packs a lot into a small package. I think it'll hold up for a few years in my garage with moderate use when needed. Excellent way to add that extra light when working in a dark area, or it's easy to toss into the truck if I need to take it to a job outside at night in a pinch. No wires means it's completely mobile, and battery life has been better than expected (the LEDs are to thank for that). I have no qualms recommending it for home or pro shop use!

Excellent Output in a Nice Overall Package

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Sunex Underhood light a couple of weeks ago and have used it extensively – so much so that I haven't even had the need to use my drop light. The light has two levels of brightness which is nice if you just need a little bit of light and want to conserve the battery or if you want to see everything on the high output setting. As you can see in the photos while working on a customer's vehicle, it puts out a substantial amount of light whether it is dark or daylight. You'll also notice that due to its slim design you are less likely to hit your head on it or have other interference with tools, hood props, or fuel system treatment hangers while performing a service or making repairs. The power button has a nice solid click and is coated in a rubber that appears to be chemical resistant (so far) and the charging port is deeply recessed in the light with a sealed cover to prevent fluids or grease from entering the port and damaging it or getting it filled with gunk. Another feature that I feel is noteworthy is that while the light is attached to the hood you can angle to any angle you prefer without having to unlock anything – simply twist the light to your preferred direction and it is good to go! It also is light and charges pretty quickly with an easy to read LED status indicator of the battery charge level which uses a USB type C plug.
 
I took off 1 star for two reasons. First, the pads on the hangers that hold it to the hood are a flimsy material that reminds me of an arts and crafts store. The fit isn't all that great and the adhesive backing is already coming off after a few weeks of heavy use. However, the item does come with two additional replacement pads which is nice. Not only this but if a vehicle is dirty, the material will transfer the dirt/debris to the next vehicle you attach it to and depending on what industry (repair vs detailing) you are in, this could cause extreme displeasure by the customer if micro scratches are found. To me, I would like to see this material replaced with a slick but soft rubber so that it won't damage the edge of the hood but it also won't transfer material and would be extremely easy to wash, clean, and dry with a standard detailing spray.
 
The next issue is the expansion mechanism. If you are working on a large vehicle with a wide hood you pull the light apart to extend one side so it can fit a variety of widths. While this works well, it causes the light to be off center on large hoods which can be annoying and force you to flip the light length wise if you are working on one side of the engine bay. Although the tension mechanism is strong and works well now, I feel as though it will loosen up after heavy use and no longer have the tension to remain on the hood because it isn't pulling itself together. Now, that is an assumption and I haven't actually experienced it but is definitely something I am concerned about in the long run. I'd much rather see a physical locking mechanism that may be a bit more cumbersome but would eliminate a potential wear item.
 
In all, I am EXTREMELY happy with this light and use it ALL the time for every vehicle! Because the light is so bright I use it during the day to see hard to reach areas without having to use a headlamp or flashlight. While I did list some negatives and potential issues, I don't think those should sway to not get this light. I haven't had any issues with it whatsoever and so far it really has made my job easier. Everything is well built and put together, so much so that I will be purchasing a second unit so I can use 2 at the same time and reduce shadowing. Thanks Sunex!
