My original purchase was a cool mist by Vicks #4550 by Kaz (see my review). Having been disapointed with that purchase (EXTREMELY noisy so it was returned to the store) I looked online -- this model seemed to have good reviews (here and elsewhere), so I ordered it.

NIGHT and DAY difference between this and the Vicks. First -- this one is ultrasonic, so the "mist" that comes out is more like "fog" -- just a vapor. The best part -- THERE IS NO SOUND WHATSOEVER!

We have Sunbeam SHG50PDQ-U Hygrometer placed in each room at the thermometer (we have electric baseboard heat). We have been running the machine intermitently and it has been very easy to keep the humidity at about 60%. VERY noticable difference in breathing!

I would recommend this product without reservation.

Although I only have one in my bedroom and only use it at night, I love that I have so many options for how much moisture is put out and whether to have warm or cool air. This humidifier is helping to keep my skin moist & not cracking. A bonus: it is keeping the shock of static electricity at bay.

Helping to eliminate shock of static electricity

I am very empressed with this I have had no leakage problems as others say to have. I just hand tighten the cap lightly and flip it over to make sure it does not leak don't crank it down or you will damage the washer in the cap. This machine is so quiet you have to check on it to make sure it's working. This machine really covers the 500 square feet I only need to set it half way and leave it and my levels are just right around 44-48% I set it by the door set the nozzels for my two rooms living and bedroom perfect. I use distill water and protec and no slime yet I had this now for over a month and I am very satified.

just what I needed

Has decreased the static electricity immensly. Humidifies 2 rooms and hallway with vaulted ceilings. I have only had to refill the unit every other day. Super, super quiet operation. Should have bought this a long time ago!

Very functional unit for our home.

Great little cool and warm mist humidifier actually does the job with no noise. The warm mist uses more water (refill every 8 hours) and isn't that warm. You can barely hear the unit, all you see is the mist so you know it's working.

It does the job

Excellent product! We were getting the regular filter humidifiers and replacing them every year because of one problem or another. This one is so super quiet that we forget that it's on! The low setting allows us to run it all day without a problem. It's also quite light even when full of water so it's easy to move from one room to another. Overall a fantastic product!

I would recommend this product. It did everything that I needed. It is very quiet and puts out alot of mist. Well worth the money.

great humidifier

I love this humidifier...the cool or warm mist option is great. So quiet that it was perfect for my newborn!

Quiet and efficient!

Followed Consumer Reports recommendations. Humidifier is quiet, has the dual directional misters which is good to do 2 rooms. Good value.

I bought it on-line, picked it up at Walmart, and turn it on as soon as I got home (of course I followed the direction).

It would not turn on. It was used and faulty item. Returned it right away. Afraid to order it again on-line.
