I researched this item quite a bit. I read the good and the bad. In the end I decided to give it a try. It was cheaper than amazon and the return policy seemed easier to deal with just in case. It came less than 24 hours after I ordered it, that was an absolute shock to me. The picture is clear, the volume is perfect and best of all it lasted a 6 hour plane ride. I recommand this to anyone who is traveling with small child.

Ordered online (easy); item was ready for pickup in 2 days (fast). Unfortunately, after charging and making sure it was set to DVD mode, no matter what DVD I put in, the unit kept "loading" but not playing. I returned the DVD player to the store (no problem there). I was very disappointed as I thought this model had everything I wanted. So I took a chance and found a store that had this model in stock (make sure you call the store first as even though it listed online that certain stores had the model I wanted, when I called, I found out they didn't). After holding my breath, when I hit play IT WORKED!! I really like everything about this portable DVD player. The sound is good, the picture great - love the bigger screen - and feel that it was a great value for the money.

Before buying this DVD player, I read some reviews that complained of low sound. I had no problems with the sound being low. It has a great picture, good sound. After charging the battery up for the first time, it played for 5 1/2 hours! The USB port is great! I've been watching movies from a memory stick and even hooked up external laptop speakers using the USB port for power and an audio wire from the headphone jack. It sounds great! I recommend it for the price.

Great picture. Long battery life.

I started out looking just for a portable dvd player that I could use any where. Ordered one and when it came screen was so small I sent it back. Good for kids in the car. Then I found this Sylvania with a 10 inch screen. It is great. Crisp clear picture, decent sound, easy to use. couldn't be happier.

great buy for all ages

Good value. Volume control is a little tricky. Important to read the owners man to see how to change. The panel shows the up and down arrows, however, you have to hold them down to activate the volume.
The max volume seems limited. OK, but could be a little louder at the max setting.
Battery life is very good.
All other controls are easy to understand.
Picture quality is very good from almost every angle.

Good value for the performance

Bought this for a 12 hour car ride. My daughter watched movies the whole trip. Very easy to use, love the swivel design. Battery life was good and the car adapter being included was awesome. The only complaints are the buttoms. Very strange design. The pause button is also the volume up button and the stop button is also the volume down button. To pause or stop you do a single push, to change the volume you need to hold the button down.. The buttons do take quite a bit of effort to push and are quite loud. This makes the unit feel very cheap. It does come with a remote but I did not play around with it, it seems equally as odd. There are more buttons on the remote than my home theater system and very small ones at that. Overall the unit did what I needed. The sound and picture were great, the design and user interface are just strange but I can live with that.

Good picture/sound, Strange button fuunctions.

I initially was very pleased with my new DVD player. I use this in my hobby shop and the first movie I put in was Titanic. The volume was so low I could hardly hear it. I was sitting 2 feet from it. I purchased recharcable iHome speaker at Walmart ($25.00) and now it's better than any other portable DVD player I have ever had. I had the volume on 20 (max) before the speaker now I only have to put it on 3.

Great picture: Easy operation: Low sound

I bought the first one over a year ago, because the screen was larger than most portable DVD players, and we were not disappointed.  The picture is larger and clear, and very good for viewing where there is not HDMI, such as outdoor or traveling viewing.  You need to be a little careful about the tilt on the screen, or everything looks a little dark. The product is easy to use and clean.  In fact, we liked this product so much we bought a 2nd one, since our power goes out frequently and the battery life is better than expected (3-4 hours), and we can plug it into a generator for recharging. The speakers could be a little clearer, but they are adequate.   I  often hook up external computer speakers to boost the sound.  Nonetheless, good buy for the price.

Great viewing on the road

I needed to buy a couple more portable DVD players, one to replace a unit that failed after a year and another as a new unit. The unit that failed may have been due to mishandling; this player looked almost exactly like the one that failed, and has the same model number. For a 10 inch portable player, this one was priced very competitively; I also liked how the old one performed, what with its volume control wheel next to the power switch. This new unit, unfortunately, even though having the exact same model number, does *NOT* have the volume control wheel. As other reviewers may have indicated, the volume reverts to the max loudness when you turn it back on, which can be very disconcerting. You also need to change the volume by remembering to long-press the STOP and PLAY/PAUSE buttons.

Of the two units purchased, one worked okay, but the missing volume control wheel is a big drawback. The second unit was DOA. Argh!

Big screen at affordable price, with drawback

Viewing angle is extremely limited.
Volume set at the highest is still not loud enough if a person is more than a few feet away. Speakers are tiny, it seem like there are only two" 1-1/2 inch" speakers at the front of the display. Audio is okay if you are directly in front of the speakers and if it is pointed directly at you. If there are noise in the room such as a dishwasher running then it is impossible to hear the audio .
Most important feature that is lacking: Resume Memory play. There is no resume play if the unit is turn off. Not so good for traveling or killing time if you want can only watch only part of a DVD so every time, I turn on the player, it has to start from the beginning with its trailer or DVD warnings and disclaimers.
Price is okay but unit is a bit disappointing especially when technology has advanced so much yet it lacks the basic. Screen size is okay, just needs better viewing angle .

Lacking in quality and necessary user options

This product is "fair" but not outstanding.  I used it once and it worked well.  I didn't use it again for about 10 days and the battery was depleted.  I plugged it in overnight and the battery was still not charged.  Had to leave it plugged in to listen to a CD.  The CD did not even finish before it made a funny noise and quit.  Disappointing.
