Ease Of Installation

I am not very handy, and these are a blessing. Initially, I tried installing a conventional recessed LED conversion kit which had a wire harness and pushed into the can for mounting. Unfortunately, the can hadn't been installed properly, and I almost ripped out from the ceiling.

Then I found these. These were a cinch to install. The instructions are clearly displayed on the box, including how to adjust the wing nut if the bulb socket is positioned too deep or too shallow in the can. Basically, you need to:

1. Extend the bulb's base for the approximate depth of the can.
2. Screw in the bulb into the can as you would a normal bulb.
3. Push in the bulb flush against the ceiling.

A couple of tips:
1. If the bulb is not flush against the ceiling, instead of risking dislodging the can by pushing in the bulb, do the following: Unscrew the bulb; shorten the base by the necessary length (say, a 1/16" or 1/8") and screw in the bulb again. It should now tightly connect to the ceiling.

2. For the uninitiated, it may not be obvious how to adjust the wing nut. The picture explaining it is on the left side of the box. It's easier than it sounds. You may need to temporarily remove the plastic trim from the can to get to the nut.

3. Get an extra box of these (or two, depending on how many you are using in your installation). At some point, these will be out of production. So, you'll want to have extras to replace burned out ones.

These are designed to cover typical existing plastic trim. So, you are not making any irreversible changes. You can always go back to standard light bulbs (not that you would). The box says these are 65W (not 60W) equivalent and 850 lumens. They dim perfectly and are noticeably brighter than the PAR30 incandescent and LED bulbs I was able to use previously.

Price-wise, these are a good value. Specialty sellers offer single packs of these for about $11. These look cheaply made from up close, but they look very nice once on the ceiling.

Very cool retro fit. They fit perfect in my older can lights. They do not get hot like my can lights did. I installed dimmer switches the same time I  installed these lights and they are completely dimmable! In my opinion you should get 5 for $25, But I am still happy with my purchase. I would recommend these lights.

I just purchased and I love them. One person previously statement that their fixture was to too high but that's not an issue. If you look inside MOST housings have a wing nut or some other nut that that you can loosen and tighten for desired depth and this product will work perfectly.

Love the ease-of-use

These are a gorgeous upgrade and as easy as screwing in a lightbulb because that's exactly what it is with a nice low profile trim that covers the existing can trim. Easy peasy.

A no brainer even if you are a no brainer.

These don't have a wire harness that reaches up to the bulb socket, they just extend. My particular can inserts are deeper than these can extend to reach. I waited too long to install them and now I can't return them unfortunately.  If your can is deeper than about 4" to where the bulb socket starts, these won't work

They would be good, except they didn't fit.
