It's been a month since we bought this unit. We turn it on sissy 18 hours a day every day, yes it works and cools to the point my my wife and son feels too cold sometimes. We live in an 800 sq ft home and this unit is used in the main living room and fan blowing inside our bedrooms. The AC air out vent can be adjusted to blow air to around 60 degrees so I don't know why the fuss about it blowing air to ceiling only because it doesn't. You can adjust. Great value and I recommend it!

It works great!

Okay so I am truly confused to why there are so many bad reviews. This AC unit is outstanding! We bought the 14000 btu unit and it does a great job at keeping our house cool. We run it in a large space and it covers a LOT of ground. I keep the bedroom doors shut of the rooms we do not use to keep it even cooler. Yes of course if it is 35 degrees outside it will not cool nearly as good as if it is 24 degrees outside but it makes our house bearable to live in. We have direct sun on our house all day so for this ac unit to cool as it does is outstanding. Sometimes bigger is not always better for those who are buying a more powerful unit for a bedroom space. My husband and I found our unit works much better in a larger space then in the bedroom....maybe because the product itself gives off too much heat for a small space.

Amazing Unit!

I bought this unit recently to replace my old 10k BTU unit that went to A/C heaven after 10 years of reliable service. This unit cools the space faster and quieter than my old unit while having a smaller footprint. Installation was a breeze. The plastic window plate could be longer. But nothing a bit of insulation and aluminum tapes can't remedy. 
I was impressed that despite me moving it on it's side to drive it home. The compressor and everything only took about an hour or so of standing upright before it was pumping that cold air through my upstairs bedroom. 

Other reviews clearly shows quality control isn't fully there yet. But if you get a good one that works. My God does it work. 

Also the vent oscillates and you can stop it so it's shooting cold AC goodness basically in a straight line when you stop the oscillation function.

Bit more than I wanted to spend(more BTUs than needed and a bigger unit then necessary). But when your AC dies in the middle of the season your choices are often understandably limited.

When they work, they really work.

It's better than nothing, but this unit has a lot to be desired. It is loud and rattles, and despite running it around the clock they are coming out is not very cool. Don't waste your time or money on this product. the company also will not let you register the product if you live in Canada so basically you don't get a warranty at all. If I wasn't in a wheelchair and I could lift the thing I would have returned it to Walmart from day one

Loud & Doesn't cool well

I've had mine for 2 years now.
Overtime if you dont clean the air intake it will cause the unit to be louder and less effective at cooling. The design makes it hard to clean because you need to unscrue and remove the entire back outer cover to get acces to the dust build up inside the unit. Kinda of a annoying they should have made a quick detachable piece in the back for quick access/cleaning. If you don't mind the extra maintenance it's a good buy.

Overall good but hard to clean

We bought this because Our 15 year old 8000btu was worn ,, this 12000 is new and will not cool as well as the worn out one !!

It fails to cool !

Clearly not 12,000 Btu Can't even cool a room 12 by 12 below 29 degrees Celsius.

Mediocre

Not worth the price, this 12,000 BTU cools less than the 8,000 BTU unit that it was purchased to replace.

Not worth the money, stay away

The air intake gets full of dust over time because they didn't put an easy to clean filter on the back where the air is sucked in. So after a year of having it I had to remove the back outer cover in order to clean it which includes removing 11 screws. Upon removing the cover I was exposed to what seemed to be a 3 inch thick carpet of dust that had accumulated over time on the part sucking in the air. This was causing the unit to produce less cold air, produce more water and do significantly more noise. Poorly designed, they should have made an easy to remove filter in the back for cleaning purposes.

Gets dirty fast and hard to clean
