Offers crisp and clear visuals with precise color representation.

First of all, note that the claimed 31,000 reviews are for many different TCL models. Mixing all the reviews together is shoddy and it reduces the value of all reviews because you can't tell what's what. There are many reviews claiming the speakers sound awful but no particular model mentioned. My speakers sound as good as you can expect from any 50 inch TV but I did already have a full AV 5.1 amp system so I piped that in through an HDMI channel. The low price for this TV is in part due to the cheap leg kit included, there are many choices to upgrade to a nice stand.
This model's back panel has all the mounting holes down low so any mount you use will tend to raise the height of the display higher than normal with older TVs. Knowing this, I selected a stand with height adjustments - the 'Perlesmith Universal Swivel Tabletop Stand' for under $30 is compatible with this TV's 200x200 VESA mounting holes.
SIZE - this is considerably larger than my old Visio which was in the '50 inch class" but was actually about 48 inch diagonal. I barely had the room for this larger screen in my installation. 
The remote sensor is on the bottom front center edge. There is a tiny dim white LED there to indicate the TV has power and is ready. This can not be turned off in the menu like my old Visio but it is a pretty dim LED.
This has all the features ROKU offers except RF remote and there is a way to connect to an antenna and scan for your local channels, accessed through the 'Live TV' option menu  which also includes free streaming of live channels, a function you can turn off. Note that the remote is IR so if you were spoiled by the Roku RF remote tuner kit which has more features and needs no pointing towards the TV, this is a downgrade. But I believe that phone apps will give you an RF remote.
It performed very well with no lag with my home wireless signal.
I am replacing my ten year old Visio which was bought before 4K was a common feature. The picture on this is indeed more crisp but plan on taking time to set up the picture controls to your liking - out of the box, mine was very dim before adjusting. It took a lot of doing to get it right for my tastes. 
I am not happy with TCL's handling of power consumption data. The Walmart webpage says this uses only $10/ yr in power but I received a TV that has the yellow sticker saying it will use $25/yr and it is not energy star compliant. I found no sticker listing the power consumption in watts but I don't feel excessive heat coming off of it and it will go into low power mode when you let it sit unused.
Another reason for my choice was the fact that the input plugs are on the right side for convenient access in my installation. It has all the inputs I could want and note there is no RCA jack inputs on this. My mounting stand did not block any of the plug access.
I have no use for a smart phone so I won't be messing with all the connectivity and bluetooth features but I may buy bluetooth headphones at some point.

The volume doesn't go as high as my Hisense 50 in tv, I need to turn the volume up to 60 to hear it where as my Hisense It was only on level 17, Plus the picture quality isn't as good as the Hisense but it's ok!

Not to bad!

I replaced a fire tv I bought last year. I hated that thing . I love Love, Love! my roku tvs.  They are so easy to set up the way you want either your favorite apps up top. Finds antenna and streaming channels, and my fandango account lets me buy movies directly.  In my fire tv I have to go to my phone app amd buy a movie then go to my tv, refresh the app and then it shows up.  It is awful loading apps too.  This roku TVs the apps load instantly.   If you want a happy tv experience and no frustration this is the tv to buy.  Not to mention the great holiday themes and screensavers and ability to plug in a flash drive to pause live tv!

Roku beats fire tv hands down

I love my new TLC TV. It was easy for me to get it connected, and that's saying something for an 80 year old non-tech oriented grandma. The picture and sound are excellent and the remote works seamlessly and is simple to use. I am extremely pleased with my purchase.

Excellent TV, an excellent value.

I am very happy with this tv. I had the earlier version in my bedroom, so buying this for the same price was a no brainer.  I have it on a mounting thing that goes 180 degrees so the living room is covered. I like the roku menu, its easy  to get your apps you already paid for hooked up. The picture is so crisp, that the older shows I watch  look a bit cheesy like 80"s soaps.  I really don't know why  people would buy the same thing and pay more. Also, the roku remote is 1000% user friendly.  Practically no learning curve.

Easy beautiful tv for adults, children or seniors,

love the fact that it automatically loads everything my other tcl roku have installed from the app store.  I purchased two of these
1 for a cougar 5th wheel and the other i use as my computer monitor for gaming, however both are connected using a sound bar/streambar, roku as well

Picture is great. I have a good sound system so I can't comment on the sound. I use it almost exclusively as a PC monitor. Make sure your video card is setup properly as to take full advantage of the HDR10 features. 4K broadcasts are becoming more prevalent in the apps. Nice TV.

Great picture

Not the best of TCL. Pic ok, sound not so great, hassle trying to set up DVD connectors. You'll need HD, but if your dvd player isn't 4K, you dont get the 4K just regular HD, which isn't the greatest on this TV. No RCA connectors. Funky settings make it less user-friendly and quality issues with those. The Roku ads and set up/opt outs are a major hassle. Next time, I would buy another brand. I've had a few TCL for my go to brand, but this unit is poor quality.

Not So Great

For a new tv its the lamest tv. weve had it 5 days and have had nothing but trouble. I would not take the tv if you gave me 2 tvs. I want my money took off my bill. Im returning it today.Stay away from walmarts black friday sales.It seems like anytime weve purchased items on black friday before and had to return items. This will be my last purchase from walmart on black friday sales

This TV is crap-Do Not Buy! When streaming a series, instead of going to the next episode, it goes to a blank screen. I like to leave my TV on for my dogs while I'm gone. Can't with this TV because it shuts itself down. 
Was ready to return it when my niece told me to reset it to factory settings. I reset it and it worked until 2 days after my final return date. I'll be buying another one and storing this one for emergencies.
