Design

We travel to triathlons, or camping trips and we carry bikes with wheel sizes of 700C, 26", 24", 20", and 16".  They all fit and load up quickly.  We use the rack on a Landrover, a Tesla Model Y, and a 1987 VW Vanagon.  It is easy to attach the rack, and it has a non-obstructive profile when driving with no bikes on it.

I bought the Apex one month ago.  The shipping was faster than what I thought.
Once out of the box, it was easy to install with clear instructions.  It fits good in my 2 inches rack on my mini van.  It's a system that you need to lock with a screw and then insert a key so it can't be taken off.  There's a hook to secure everything, this looks not so sure but as it's made by thule, it comforts me.
I only try putting on 2 bikes (one adult/one kid) and it was quite easier than with my previous bike rack.  Negative point, the unused straps could fit tighter or smaller so it's even easier to insert the bike, but overall the rack was solid and couldn't guess it was there while driving.
The fact that it can be fold super fast to open the trunk or to reduce the space behind the car when it's unused is the completely awesome!
Overall, super satisfied!

Great as expected

I love this rack. It's solid and well made. It tilts easily and folds down fast. My two favorite features are the built in bike lock that secures the bikes with a steel line and a built in hitch lock that that secures the rack to the hitch. Spend a little extra and get this top of the line rack.

Order arrived 4 days after placing which was not planned but very welcome. We were able to use the bike rack for a trip where we had planned to borrow one and the Chasm 40L is a truly wonderful bag. Super water proof too! All in all, very pleased and looking forward to ordering more!

Wonderful products, amazing service

Great bike rack, solid, high quality, but needs better instructions. The other problem is that smaller bikes will not fit properly on this rack. I ended up having the kids bikes only supported by one bracket of the rack and securing them with ratcheting straps which worked quite well. This is apparently common with most racks so we had to improvise.

Excellent product with some limitations

Bought the brand based on it's popularity and recommendations. As a family of 5, bought the 5 bike carrier. After a few false starts on the set up and getting it onto the hitch (Thule just shows pictures for set up, no written instructions) we loaded up the family mountain bikes for a trip over to a local trail. Actually impressed with how easy it was to get things loaded after the initial set up. However, one of my child's bikes had a odd frame configuration and wouldn't fit onto the rack, so we ended up throwing it in the back of the truck. Other then that, product works great, keeps the bikes secure, and the tilt down feature of the rack allows you to keep it on the hitch and access your tailgate when bikes aren't loaded.

5 Bikes... Almost

It works OK, it's the same size of the 4 bicycle one, just added one more spot for a bike.
We have 3 large and 2 small bicycles and they barely fit, cannot imagine fitting 5 large bicycles.
But there are no other decent options for a 5 bicycle rack on the market.
OK for now for us.

Not a 5 bicycle rack

If you are looking for a rack that fits five bikes this is not the one. Technically I guess there is space for 5 but It's a real pain to get them on and if successful takes a very long time and a lot of patience and damage to the bikes. 

I regret buying this and unfortunately I now have to buy another one to replace it.

Quality is good. Definitely not for 5 bikes

I am not knocking the Thule name, they have and continue to build quality products. 2 major complaints.  1) good luck with fitting 5 bikes.  5 road bikes with drop down bars maybe.  I've tried manipulating the configuration and I will never get 5 mtb bikes loaded. 2) if your bike has dual suspension, forget it.  Assuming you could fit 5 bikes, I would need frame adaptors at additional cost, for all 5 bikes.  I'm very saddened that I spent so much money on a product that literally does not work for me. I would love my money refunded in full or partially, but can guarantee that will never happen.  For those thinking “you should have done your research!”… I did :(

Horrible Purchase.

We got a hitch on our van for the purpose of finding a bike rack that could transport bikes for our family of 5. We like to travel and ride. This rack was purchased as the newest model recommended for 5 bikes but you absolutely cannot fit 5 road bikes with drop handlebars on this rack. The bikes are not spaced enough on the rack to allow for the handlebars, even with altering the direction of the bikes. I feel like the company should specify if only 5 straight bar bikes can fit. Also, the quality of the sway bar on this rack is less than stellar. They are cheap and don't hold the bikes well. For such a high end company I was disappointed..
