I bought this upright bike carrier to replace my ancient 1990s era rack. I like the convenience of an upright but needed something that could easily carry my daughters modern bike with a wide down tube. This rack does the job perfectly.

From assembly to installation of the bike rack to roof rack and also bike into the bike rack is very easy. Holds the bike to the roof very firm. Locks hold strong.

I had another roof bike rack before this one, but that one extended far enough over the hatch door that I could not fully open the hatch when the bike rack was on it. Fortunately, I don't have this issue with the Thule rack! The rack is so easy to use that the hardest part is hoisting the bike onto the roof of the car. I love not having to dismantle my bike to travel with it!

I got this about a month ago and it's been great! It holds my bike nicely with minimal movement. Also quite easy to install. I ordered the key and lock set to go with it and what a great add on to keep it safe on top of my car and to lock my bike in durnibg the day.

As good as you think!

Very sturdy and easy-to-use bike rack. The locking system is efficient. It can be difficult to mount the bike when there are bottle cages or a frame bag attached, especially when reaching at arm's length. Finding a way to maintain the bike's balance while attaching the rack can be tricky... this could be a problem for shorter or less strong people.

I recommend it for its reliability.

Noise on my GLC300

I have successfully used older style Thule roof rack for years. Previously, tires sit in a groove the mounting the bike is stable with this design. This style is rack is a dangerous adventure loading and unloading. Neither tire is secure and the clamp is constantly jamming with the crank or frame. Have not figured any safe method to either load or unload bikes. Do not recommend.

Was so happy for have bought this ‘on sale' at a discounted price, yet now it seems like a costly purchase as it is still in the box and likely to stay there.

The installations instructions are unclear, with the small cluttered diagrams far from being clear.

Will probably give it away or try to sel online.

The installation is a nightmare. The instructions were probably designed by genius engineer during the dark days of winter.  Some YouTube videos are a great help.  
Thule sent one of the wrong parts.  I know everybody loves their Thule racks, but this has been time consuming, inconvenient…a real struggle for me. .
