I bought this because the home I had built I had them pre-wire every room with CAT5 throughout the entire home.

OMG!!! this is the way to go hardline direct connect everything. If you want to share media on your in home network and you need it to get there fast with multiple destinations needing internet it's a must have.

Wifi is only for mobile devices such and phones, tablets, chrome cast and the occasional guest laptop.

I'd like to think I am somewhat tech savvy when it comes to computers but seriously a monkey could set this thing up. The setup process for a router or modem is more difficult. This things completely unmanaged and for the most part plug and play. I never broke a sweat and the most I had to do was unplug my router and modem move a few wire into the right ports and wait for everything to light up and sync.

It is easy to use. There are enough ports (8) to support a healthy home network or small business. This switch is small and takes up very little space. You can plug the incoming cable into any port and then all the others are live out. It is so easy. It is working perfectly. The power cord is 49” long with a 2-prong adapter plug. It comes with rubber feet to stick on. I highly recommend this compact fast switch. This is a good solution as a low power and silent gigabit switch that runs cool and is low cost. I highly recommend this product.

Very good product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Routers have only four Ethernet ports, so a small switch comes in very handy indeed. My old switch was way too large for my needs and only 10/100, and since my router is gigabit, that switch down-scaled the speed. So I was very excited to get this little gigabit switch. It has enough ports (8) to support a robust home network or small business since most things run over WiFi these days and only certain things are better hard-wired, i.e. printers, main powerline adapter, servers, HTPC and extenders.

This switch is so small that I sat it right on the empty surface of my UPS backup power block.

Like any switch I've ever used, you can plug the incoming cable into any port and then all the others are live out. So simple. It's working great.

I haven't replaced all my Ethernet cables to cat 5e or higher, so not yet achieving the gigabit speed, but I trust it will be there when I do.

The power cord is 49” long with a 2-prong adapter plug. It comes with rubber feet to stick on. The metal case measures 6x3.5x1.25” with feet on, and it has no holes to hang it on the wall.

I recommend this compact fast switch.

Nice little fast switch

Simple plug and play. It worked right out of the box and I barely remember that it is installed. My home network consists of 12 wired devices and countless wireless devices so having a device that doesn't need any attention from me is a godsend.

Perfect for my needs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live a very connected lifestyle. My cable modem in the living room only has 4 ethernet ports, but I need 6. I have a connected TV, XBOX, Amazon Fire, Wireless Routers, NAS storage, and Smart Things home security hub that all need to be attached to my router. In the past I would have to connect the TV and Fire wirelessly, which isn't ideal for many reasons. I used this switch to run the XBOX, Connected TV, and amazon Fire out of one of the ethernet ports because I rarely need them all to use the internet at the same time. This has been a great help because it allows me to share the last port on my cable modem amongst multiple devices. The port works well. It does what it is supposed to do. I will update my review if anything changes. Til then, I am quite satisfied with this switch.

Does what I need it to do

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is look great metal and else. Good for the mass of HOME users without need more than 4 POE.( for explaining What is POE IT ONLY MEAN Power Over Ethernet?
Power over Ethernet (POE) does exactly what it says it carries power (electricity) over the Ethernet cables. So, an Ethernet cables caries both data and current electricity together to operate devices like wi-fi access points, camera cable for network etc .This could be a choice, but if you have multiple use more than 5 or six server or PC plus voice IP (internet phone).There the reflux was choking 3 to 4 time during my testing period as Spark reviewer. I have test this replacing my own old one I have in use for 6 or 7 years, who is probably more electric consumer but don't have the failure mentioning below , specifically on voice IP Phone.
IN RESUME I WILL RECOMMAND TO A FRIEND FOR A HOME WHO DON'T HAVE MORE THAN 4 POE NEED MAXIMUM, I HAVE DISCONECT THE VOICE IP , AND 2 NETWORK SERVER FOR TAKE THE PHOTO TO MAKE UNDERSTANDING OF THE MAXIMUM POE USE WHO ARE GREAT WITHOUT PROBLEM IN MY TESTING.

This is good for 4 port with (POE) FOR MORE ??
