I like that the base stays in place and the kettle is attached when you need to heat he water.  We chose this for our son's college dorm  because it was the only model that was steel and not glass or plastic.  We have a rice cooker of the same brand that also influenced our purchase decision.

A fine unit. There was a little plastic odor the first time out of the box. Light weight, attractive design, I unplug it every time I use it for caution sake. Heats up fast and a good price. Plenty big. Recommend it.

Tayama made a good Electric Kettle here

I bought this because my old kettle died. This one is much faster than my old version.

Great buy

I really tried, but after 12-15 uses I could not get the metal smell and taste out of the water. I'm going to have to look for a different kettle.
