As much as I WANT to love this scale for it's abundant size (it can easily hold a large dinner plate and you can still view the display), there is a HUGE downside.  Despite trying all brands of batteries (from cheap Dollar store to premium), this unit HOGS battery power.  No problem right?  I'll just change the batteries as needed??  Easier said than done...the batter compartment requires 4 VERY small screws and an equally small screwdriver (we're talking watch repair kit size) to remove the battery compartment door.  ALL of our scales have been Taylor brand but they really dropped the ball on this one by not having a simple hinged/clasp style closure for the batteries.  
Fix this and it's a 5 star for sure!

Needs Improvements!

I had to get a drill to open the screws on the back of the scale. I created an account on WalMart just so I could warn you how insanely difficult it is to open the screws on the back of the unit. If you have an extra 30 minutes each time you need to change batteries, which is very often because this unit apparently sucks them down, then you'll have plenty of time. Enjoy all the extra work you'll be doing, because of a kitchen scale!
